Stiff joints in the morning

Do any of you find that glucosamine helps you? I am always waking up in the morning with stiff joints. I guess perhaps I'm getting old and the GH probably accentuates that a little bit.

Bro., dont think you are that old. I hear nothing but good about glucosamine.
Whenever I have taken it for a ailment (I'm a old guy - LOL) when the ache stops
I stop taking it. Is it the glucosamine or just time. Hell if I know. I do know you
have to take it for awhile for it to start working. If the stiff joints have been with
you for awhile then you would be a good test subject to see if it works. I get it at
Costco and it is mixed with Chondroitin and MSM. (heard that was important)
If you do try then let US know. Also - are sore joints a side of GH???

your just old bro. i've been having the same problem. deca is the only thing that makes it go away.

thank you. Hey - if deca takes the stiffness out of your joints is that why you get
deca dick?? (stiffness out of joints - get it??)

good pun lol. Yeah try some glucosamine chondroiton and msm blend. You have to take it for a month or so before you notice a difference but it helps my shoulder when i supplement it im sure it could help you.

glucosamine is great but chondroitin has never been proven to help when taken orally, all of the clinicals on it have always been for injectable and it's proven to work that way.

oh whateva i just get good deals on chon. msm and glucos mixed and they are the same mg's as takin separatly so i just take it all lol.

I've had it for the last 5 years. It gets worst if im sleeping on a crappy matress, cold days, when i get the flu, and my workouts have a lot to do with it. Or if im working on the house all day. squats make my hips and knees hurt, running ofcourse.

I just choose to deal with the pain. Im usually really stiff and have sharp pains for the first ten minutes of the day.

But like i said, deca... makes everything go away. Id love to try EQ some day.

Cant wait for when im 50.

The research I have looked at is pretty mixed on most of the supps. Some show results, most don't. If you THINK it works for you, go for it.

I can't use GH for that very reason. I am not really sure I got anyting much out of it anyway (though my shoes are a size larger now).

I have started doing lighter weights and keeping my form perfect and going through the reps very SLOWLY. I still do reps until I can't do any more, but the joints don't take the same beating.

Also, if it hurts, I don't do it. Took me a while to learn that obvious thing. There are almost always similar exercises that work (or I just rotate through different ones over a month to make it easier on the joints).

Also, I will do partials. So with a bench, I go until my arms are parallel to the ground, I don't touch my chest with the bar. When I do the squat, I go down until my knees start to hurt and then I stop. When I do overhead press, I don't take the bar down to my chest either.

I am almost 42, and want to be able to continue doing this for a while...

I was really hoping that GH would help my joints. I wonder if you reduced the amount if it would give more benifit?

I have heard that GH can make joints a little stiff so I think I'm experiencing that to some degree. Deca does seem to help a little (without getting deca dick either--I guess I'm lucky on that one). I'll have to try the glucosamine for a longer period this time. I wasn't sure if it was really doing anything, but if it takes a while to kick in, I probably didn't give it long enough.

After powerlifting for the last 18 years, I know what you're talking about. I do get some relief with glucosamine/chrondroitin supplementation, but have also had alot of relief using high dose omega 3's. I've been on a prescription called Lovaza for about a year now. Its primary use is to lower triglycerides, but it also had an effect on raising my HDL (good cholesterol). Off label, it is being used for joint pain, as well. I take 4 omega-3-acid ethyl esters ED and have definitely noticed a difference in my joints.

good info Krat. I'm like normal - I just deal with it. It's those first 10 steps in the
morning that are tough. LOL (I'm 49)

Dude, if you're 49 and not in need of something to deal with joint pain, then consider yourself truely blessed. By the time I'm 49, I'll need to stack 2400mgs of Advil, 1000mgs of Tylenol, and a shot of B-12 just to take my morning dump (LOL).

i agree with you krat my joints are already fucked. I have torn biceps stitches screws in my shoulder. Torn articulart cartilage in both knees. Im in bad shape already and im 22 lol.

Damn...is that all lifting related? Looks like a powerlifter's resume. I've had both shoulders scoped (supraspinatus tears), a hip scope (labrum tear), and a nice filet job to repair a torn quad tendon. On top of that, I just snapped something in my shoulder last month, while maxing my squat. I'm a walking clusterfuck, but I've got 11 years on you, man. Sucks to be that young and injured, but I guess sometimes you gotta pay, if you want to play.

yeah i hear ya bro well my shoulder was from baseball 13 years to be exact lol. bicep was preinjured i gess you could say. Then i was trying to break my record deadlift of 600 and pop there it went. Long head its still torn so i got a nice little hole in my arm lol. Knees again 13 years of catching and lifting both that will do it to ya lol.

Krat has a great point - I have read that Omega-3s are as effective for pain relief as asprin. And it is good for your cholesterol. I didn't know about the off-label use of lipid drugs... very intersting.

By the way, I take 40 grams of ground flax seed a day, and have gotten some ginorous bruises from shots to the glute. I mean so much blood that a double dose of vicodin didn't do anything (along with some vodka martinis). It was the most painful thing I have had happen (worse than broken bones or dislocated joints). And all it really was is a burst vein in my ass. So Omega-3s are good for your heart because it reduces the clotting of the blood, but it can have some probelms as well. But I still use it.
