What are your thoughts on SARMS?

Presser posted a great thread about them a few weeks back more info can be found there as well, That thread kinda got track on taxable items etc. I want to know your opinion on SARMS and do you think they will be all its cracked up to be.

Selective androgen receptor modulators or SARMs are a novel class of androgen receptor ligands. (The name follows the terminology currently used for similar molecules targeting the estrogen receptor, "selective estrogen receptor modulators," such as Tamoxifen.) They are intended to have the same kind of effects as androgenic drugs like anabolic steroids but be much more selective in their action, allowing them to be used for many more clinical indications than the relatively limited legitimate uses that anabolic steroids are currently approved for.

Comparison to testosterone

Currently used androgens for male hormone replacement therapy are typically injectable or skin delivery formulations of testosterone or testosterone esters. Injectable forms of testosterone esters (such as testosterone enanthate, propionate, or cypionate) produce undesirable fluctuations in testosterone blood levels, with overly high levels shortly after injection and overly low afterwards. Skin patches do provide a better blood level profile of testosterone, but skin irritation and daily application still limit their usefulness. Oral androgens are not currently used due to concerns about liver toxicity.

SARMs provide the opportunity to design molecules that can be delivered orally, but that selectively target the androgen receptors in different tissues differently. The goal of research in this area is to allow a customized response: tissues that are the target of the therapy will respond as they would to testosterone; other tissues where undesirable side effects are produced will not.

None of the SARMs yet developed are truly selective for anabolic effects in muscle or bone tissues without producing any androgenic effects in tissues such as the prostate gland, however the compounds tested so far show a ratio of anabolic to androgenic effects of at least 3:1 and even up to as much as 10:1, whereas all known anabolic steroids have a ratio of around 1:1.

This suggests that while SARMs are likely to show some virilizing effects when used at high doses (e.g. recreational abuse by bodybuilders), at lower therapeutic doses they may well be effectively selective for anabolic effects, which will be important if SARMs are to have clinical application in the treatment of osteoporosis in women. One substantial advantage of even the first-generation SARMs developed to date is that they are all orally active without causing liver damage, whereas most anabolic steroids are not active orally and must be injected, and those anabolic steroids which are orally active tend to cause dose-dependent liver damage which can become life-threatening with excessive use. Research is continuing into more potent and selective SARMs, as well as optimising characteristics such as oral bioavailability and increased half-life in vivo, and seeing as the first tissue-selective SARMs were only demonstrated in 2003, the compounds tested so far represent only the first generation of SARMs and future development is likely to produce greatly superior agents compared to those available at present.

Selectivity in men

For example, if the target is bone growth in elderly men with osteopenia or osteoporosis, but with no overt signs of hypogonadism, a SARM targeting bone and muscle tissue, but with lesser activity on the prostate or testes would be more desirable.

Selectivity in women

A SARM for women would ideally stimulate bone retention, or libido and other sexual function that androgens can influence, without negative side effects such as development of male gender characteristics (virilization), increased LDL/HDL ratios, liver disfunction, and so forth.

Examples

* Andarine ("S-1") - partial agonist, intended mainly for treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy

* BMS-564,929 - mainly affects muscle growth, intended as general treatment for symptoms of andropause

* JNJ-28330835.[6]

* LGD-2226 - affects both muscle and bone

* Ostarine ("S-4")[7] - affects both muscle and bone, intended mainly for osteoporosis but also general treatment for andropause

* S-40503 - selective for bone tissue, particularly low virilization, intended for osteoporosis and may be suitable for use in women

Receptor modulation that allows for greater growth is a great thing. I hope they develope specific receptor super gear.

Very interesting stuff, but I think they'll try to control these compounds a lot more, even though they don't have the same side effects as steroids. I'm sure they'll find some reason to regulate them the same way.

exactly!! Yeah man no more anti-e or anti-ps just good old hcg would be needed i would think

Why is it that anything that works, gets outlawed, yet the Government allows all the stuff that doesn't work get sold and scam people?
4 things that help in the supplement store are creatine, glutamine, and protein, and vitamins. All the rest is CRAP it seems like.
I love how the fat old men who never work out decided that steroids are just as bad as the "HARD" stuff that people OD on everyday.

I think some people on here have done the S1 andarine, but not sure if anyone has done the s-4 Ostarine. I am interested in finding out who has done the S-4 and how they liked it VS the S1. I know some people wanted to do the S-4 because there was less "yellow" at night but I want to know about the muscle gains. with S4 vs S1

anyone have any experience with S-4 ?

anyone have any thoughts on using sarms while off AAS... and as part of PCT ?

I ran S4 solo a while back. 50mg ed for 4-5 weeks if I remember correctly.

It hardened me up nicely for being off cycle. The yellow tinted and slight loss of night vision was apparent towards the end of my run, but with wasn't a big deal. The vision sides subsided not long after the cycle.

I plan on trying S1 soon. It's supposed to be more anabolic/less androgenic and it has almost zero sides with responsible dosing.

Pretty cool compound to run between cycles. When I try S1 i'll be running IGF LR3 as well basically bridging into my next cycle.

hi guys, was wondering if anyone has any info on the dectection times for SARMS i have seen and read about a baseballer apparently testing positive but it could be scare tackticks as well or maybe he was caught in possesion with intention
to use they really dont tell you that, also some people have clained they have passed drug test as late january this 2010....and was wondering if there was any more recent infomation on s4
