Well a friend was telling me about this stuff not long ago and then yesterday i finaly seen the commercial for it, i have never been so excited about a commercial in my life, it was for a new product called 'synvisc" its a shot that goes into the knee and apparently it replaces the synovial fluid in ur knee so theres no more bone on bone like i have! and it lasts up to 6 months, well i scheduled my appointment with the orthopedic already and im not leaving until i get some new synthetic synovial fluid injected into my knee!

I've heard a lot about it as well. Fortunately I don't have much in the way of knee problems. Its a fantastic product for those that need it. Give us some first hand info as to how it feels!

it defenitly takes the edge off they have a new one out called synvisc one. were its one shot instead of standard 3. my arthritis dr told me that if you get it done every 6 monthes you will be able to maintain what you have left in your knee. the thing is insurances are a bit a pain in the ass with it. because the dr writes you out a script then you have to go to drugstore to get it. there preloaded syringes. my insurance company at first wouldnt cover it but was able to get it eventually alot of people have to have it filled but have it just sent directly to the dr doing the injection. so just be prepared for a bit of a headache but you will get it. i am trying the new one shot deal the end of this month in both of my knees so i will up=date but it usually takes a month till you feel effects.

Isn't it the same stuff in restylane? Im pretty sure it is. Its made from bird wings and its the same stuff they are injecting in lips and stuff instead of collagen these days.

this sounds interesting.... now would you have to go back for more injections or is this a one time thing?

^ ^ ^ Yeah, that will be painful initially, but there's a great benefit afterwards.

it depends regular synvisc or the generic brand hylagan. they both are 3 shot deals. you get them one week apart. first they put a needle in your kne and pull back to drain any fluid and to make sure they are in the correct spot then they leave the pin in and screw on the preload and shoot it. my doctor said that she drains every knee first if she doesnt get any fluid she wont inject she was telling me about all the fat people and how hard it is to find the spot to inject because theres so much extra tissue in the way hahaha. the end of this month i am going to get a new shot (synvisc one) the new formula makes it so you only need to get one shot. so hopefully it will work the same

So the stuff isn't compatible with the fluid that's already there? Seems strange to have to draw out fluid that's already in there. I'd think you'd want to keep that.

meaning the fluid from inflamation. basically when i get my shot she drains my knee first of all the bad stuff and to make sure she is in the correct spot then she leaves the needle in my knee and screws on the synvisc syringe and injects that

Sounds like a fun afternoon. How often do you have to get treated with this stuff. I think I read 18 months maybe.
