Jay Cutler to wait until 2013

I will not be competing this year in the Mr. Olympia. I did try to get back on track with my training and my eating, but there was simply too much going on with my business ventures. The only way I would compete is if I can put 100 percent into it, and the timing wasn’t right for this year. And honestly, it wasn’t until mid-July that I even made the decision to return in 2013 and try to get my title back from Phil, just like I got it back from Dexter in 2009. But this year, for the first time in 10 years, I want to just sit back and watch the show— who moves up, who moves down— and start training full-throttle for the 2013 Mr. Olympia not too long after.

This is something that always blew me away. The top guys can take tremendous time off and be right back at the top with 6 months of training. The way Levrone did this always amazed me

I believe this is the best decision he could have made. He needs to give his body time to rest so he can really take it to the level he needs to to be a threat for the title....

This also could be him realizing that he does not have what it takes to be in the top five this year and his time has past. Jay will always be one of the greats but it may be too late for him.

I have mixed feelings about this. First Jay has been my favorite bber for years and I hate to think of his career coming to an end. On the bright side he's one if the smartest men in the industry both business and with his body so maybe he does have good year or two left in him. While my fingers were typing that my brain is thinking is "damn Phil is only going to be getting better with more time." it will be weird to see the Olympia without seeing Jay on stage.

I respect him more for admitting he is behind than rather take a blow with a bad placing and likely damage his brand. Now he has a better shot at coming in rested and has a better shot at going out on top rather than slide back and fade off into the sunset.

Jay is the smartest business man in the sport so this was an educated decision.

maybe he will do the Arnold and get that 100k instead...no phil in that show...prob just victor to compete with...then some of the younger guys...he is a buisness man, so I think he is more conserned about making the most amount of cash possiable before he has to retire...

I think its a good move too. He said he needs to concentrate on his business engagements. I run a business and its work sometimes non stop with weekends included so I know what its like. Either way the guy is a champ in my book

I also admire him more for being honest and admitting that he's behind rather than using another excuse or showing up looking like shit. I think he'll be competitive next year, but I don't see him dethroning Phil (unless something crazy happens and Phil doesn't win)

Now that sounds like a plan! Your right he is all about business now! Still sad he wont be in the O this year and maybe theirs more to it then he is saying
