my wife got some flax seed from a feed store, like 10#s.some crafts she doin.
anyway,is ther a conversion to make flax seed oil out of this?or is this some kind of horse bull sh1t to stay away from.

eat the seeds there better for you ........I put them on ceral , yogurt you can just chew on them they take out the toxins in your body like a sponge .....when you eat them whole

you could extract the oil if you wanted.
kinda like extracting oil from peanuts or soybeans or whatever. I think there are home methods for this. It's not dangerous or anything. It's just cooking. (search web for recipe )
The industrial equipment used to do this professionally is way more efficient.

i was wanting to take the oil for the extra cals.i was told it was 500 cals. a serving of flax oil.is that true?if so,will i get the same cals.from eating the seeds?

Flax seed is typically around 15.5 % oil and is full of fiber, protein and complex carbs. For suplementation purposes you should be taking in arond 14 gms of oil per 100 lbs of body weight, for a 200 lb BBer that's 28 gms -- To get that much oil from eating the seeds you would have to eat around 180 grams (about 1.25 cups)

That around 750 cals as opposed to 250 for taking the oil straight-up.....

Suggest a mix of both, maybe go 1 tblspoon of oil and 1/2 cup or so of the seeds every day.

BTW, the commercial process for extracting flax oil from seed is cold pressing -- don't ever heat your flax oil, it'll hyrdolyze or go rancid in a big hurry --

typical analysis

Oil 15.6%
Protein 31.7%
Carbohydrates 39.3%
Fiber 30%
