Metal Detectors

This is a weird question, but where is a better place to ask it than here. Does anyone know if a few syringes would set off a metal detector that you go through before getting on a cruise? Anybody got any experience with situation?

If you put the pins in something that has to go through the machine in a box, the metel in the pins would be visible on the x-ray screen. I think they may be looking for "concealed" objects the most. If it were me, I would pack them in my suitcase. I don't think the pins would draw attention there. My guess is that they are looking for handguns, knives or explosives in the luggage. Perhaps pack them in your shaving kit or something along with your nail clippers, and stuff like that. The dogs are sniffing for either drugs or explosives of both. Not testosterone. I doubt there would be much for it to smell anyway, maybe the oil base? And like Jetlagged said, people carry pins for diabetes anyway. I bet the airplane ride to the port (if thats how you are going to get there) would be the only challenge. Sounds like a fun time...juicing on a cruise ship with women around who want to "juice" with you. Eat well, you'll need to replace a lot of protein lost in body fluids! :D :D

I travel pretty often and just put them in my suitcase. Don't ever take anything through in your carry-on. With security these days, people get pulled out at random for in-depth searches. Even if you don't set off the metal detectors, you might be one of those random searches afterward before they let you board. I've packed pretty much everything in luggage and never had a problem before.

The walk through metal detectors won't pick up needles. The hand-held wands will, though. I had a close call at the airport once, when they wanded me they found a few needles a bottle of anadrol and some test. Luckily, the lady was stupid enough to buy my story that I was a navy doc who forgot that he was carrying some med supplies (I showed her my military ID).

How effective would peeling the label off your vial and writing "flaxseed oil" or "salmon oil" be and putting these in your checked luggage--in case it was searched?

I don't think it's a chance you should take. The detectors I've delt with have different sensitivity settings. It depends what they are set for. If your set on doing it there are various containers made to hide things, even made out of metal. A good one is the twist apart soup can or shaving cream cans. If a inspector knows his job he'll spot it.

i would say go ahead with the needles but not the AS....but then again...y have the needles if no AS.....and chances r where ever u go u will b able to get needles some where....guess it depends on your situation each time u fly.

Just put it in your suitcase. I went away last Jan., when security was real tight. I had all kinds of goodies in my luggage. Just stick it in with your dirty laundry. If they do open it up, hopefully the stench of your dirty draws will keep them away.
ghostface.

What I also have done was to ship them down prior. Once in a box with other stuff for a 2 week vacation and once preloaded a weeks worth. The weeks worth preloads were taped to paper then inserted into a binder for added protection - then overnighted to Las Vegas! All worked out well. What could be better? Juicing, Gambling, Strip clubs and Mr/Ms Olympia all during that week?
