Anyone crack a VETBRA

never craked a vertbra before but why not take ur docs advice ...work around it till he gives u the ok ..

What vert. did you crack? Did you have surgury?

I fractured my L4 in my first college basketball game but thought I had just bruised my tailbone. I played the rest of the season and then got it looked at. The chiro told me it had been fractured and would need regular adjustments to keep it in place. I go to the chiro every three to four weeks and have no problem. As long as I keep my midsection strong I have no problems, and I love to squat.......My old chiro actually told me to keep doing them cause he thought that it was the reason I have so few problems with it.

I cracked my L5, one side will never heal, so i just have to deal with it. This is my second time doin this. I have to keep my mid section real strong, for that is what supports it.

chiro said mine would never heal either, just one of those things that I have to live with I guess.

Have you seen a chiropractor?
I recommend them highly, although there are bad ones out there. Some of them try to keep you coming in very frequently to rack up a bill and keep you in a condition known as "hyper mobility" which is basically so much adjusting that all the connective tissue and muscle that holds everything in place becomes so loose that it won't hold anything in place. I went to one like this for about a month and a half and gave up on him. Went to another guy and he just said to come in when I feel like I need it.

Based on my experience the ones that want to run a ton of tests on you are usually not that good. the best ones I have been to do very little beyond the actual adjusting. The one I go to now wouldn't even take x-rays. He just had me stand facing him and bend over at the waist. He saw a twisting in my upper body and knew what was wrong immediately. Adjusted me and I was fine. Very quick and painless.

If something is misaligned the chiro will put it in place for you so that the midsection strength that you have will keep it there. If it doesn't hurt then I say why not squat? One chiropractor told me that due to the extreme arch in my lower back I should never even be lifting weights that put downward forces on my spine.....I just pulled a 505x3 deadlift a coupel months ago pain free, so I will be the first to say that not everyone in the profession is right on the money with their recomendations

well a back specilist is the one who told me this, but i dont know what to do. i play college football, and well i really have to gain weight, and get stronger, i will be unable to compete with out squats.

But ive never seen a chiro, but i do have sports trainers at my aid,

did he say what the outcome would be if u continued to squat ???.what did ur trainner suguest ??.. id there advice its not worth fuckin ur self up for life ...i see ur concern but not sure it outways what possibality of what could be the outcome ...train the best u can without squats ...u can still leg press and shit right ???

I have a herniated disc. I think it is L-5, but not for sure. I was told by a doc that I could never lift weights again. I went to a different doc and he told me to do what ever I wanted. He said that if something hurt, then don't do it anymore. I was also told not to squat. Another option besides presses and extensions is to do squats on a smith machine. This takes lots of pressure off of your spine. Make sure that your abs and lower back are strong too and carry around as little bodyfat as you can on your midsection.

well i did leg press today
first time in 2 months, and there killing me, i also ran a mile in 8min.

Leg presses take all the weight off my spine it felt good

very good doing squats with your own body weight stopping halfway down and holding there for as long as you can .....Arnold did these ......worked very well for him.....be careful nothing is worth the long term injury you may have kids one day

Hey bro,

I ruptured L-1 I beleive...caused me a lot of nerve pain for a while, but your body can heal itself to an extent. I have done squats/dead lifts/ and cleans since then, but I am a VERY lucky person. I usually don't go very heavy, and I try to listen to my body...your back will never be completely healed, but it can get better, so just learn your own limits and play it safe. I would say don't do squats for a while, then if you really feel the need, start light and see how it responds.

best of luck,

J
