does stretching really help from preventing that. Or is stretching jus good for the muscles and not tendons and joints, etc...

hanging releaves compression on th spine ...stretching the muscles keeps you loose......think about it the tighter the muscles in your back the more compression on the vertabra

I have never tried hanging. I think it would be good though. I've seen contraptions that hang people upside-down, those look really bad to me. If I do it, I think I'll just use a roman chair like at the gym, or something like that. I don't think the human body was designed to be upside down. The valves in our veins are all designed to be upright. And there are no valves in your neck. The head gets filled with a lot of blood that has no way of really getting back up (should be down). The body has designed it to recieve an uninterrupted supply and drain without needing long veins with valves to get it back to the heart. When you are upside down you have a ton of pressure on your head, and not a good supply of fresh blood, because it can't make the cappillary jump as well, is my guess.
The hanging would give the inter vertebra cushions a chance to relax and reform a little I think. A good idea to take it slow at first. I wouldn't just jump into aggressive stretching if I never have stretched before. If you haven't done any hanging yet, it just figures to be something the body needs to adjust to doing. Like going from no exercise to a blowout lifting session. That would make you sore and crippled for a week right?
I have also noticed a huge increase in flexability and recovery/repair while on treatment (HRT). This has meant that my body responds a LOT better to exercise and stretching than before. I do not know if it would make a difference for someone your age to be on a cycle or not, as your natural levels were already at a level that promotes good healing.
(Thats a lot of words for a small point.)

how accurate was each test? I hope more than just a physical for sports-I was anywhere from 5-11 to 6-1 on 3 different physicals while going to h.s. I am now 6-0 so don't worry to much.

Hey bud it also varies when you check your height. IN themorning you are a little taller. Lying down helps the spine stretch back just a little.
