How many of you guys do cardio while trying to bulk? I just started a bulking cycle and want to keep some of my aerobic fitness. I only plan on doing about 3-4 cardio sessions/week for 30 minitues or so. Let me know what you peeps think. :D

Hey Kiss

I find doing more than 3 sessions a week really will eat the muscle away. IF your keeping the heart range between 50-60% 4x aweek for 30 might not be too bad. Just depends on your body and how it rects to cardio.

Any kind of cardio competes with overal calories, fat/carbs/protein, essential aminos, vitamins and minerals that your muscles need for recovery. If you are serious about gaining mass, you;ll need to add an extra 600 calorie meal for every cardio session you do. Also, don't go running or do cardio that's hard on the legs for at least 3 days after a leg workout---you'll just hinder the recovery. Lastly, don't do cardio within a few hours of weight training. Doing cardio before drains you of energy you need to lift hard and heavy. Doing cardio after depletes glycogen stores so far that recovery is drastically impaired. I do 30-45 min on the tread mill every 2 weeks while bulking just to keep fit. Anything more is just detrimental to bulking.

I had to stop...when I am on a cycle my f'in calfs get so pumped up that it becomes extremely painful...I dont think you need cardio while your on....I would wait until the end of the cycle then start up the cardio with the post cycle therapy while laying of the weights a bit...it gives your body a chance to recoup and keeps cortisol levels low.

my 2 cents

I going to ask what bodytype are you? If you are an endo (like me) then cardio is a necessary evil. On the other hand, ecto's can eat into their gains just by looking at a piece of cardio equipment.

I would not do any cardio if bulk is your main goal!

define bulk-lean mass or watery lard ass?-some cardio is a good thing-helps with endurance, metabolism and general health(lipid profile, heart rate)-notice the word SOME and always in the am on empty stomach-30 min-2-3x per week tops and only if you have an abundance of carbs and protein in your diet-just my opinion-P.S I think we should call it a "building" cycle not a "bulking" cycle-bulking sounds like sitting still eating donuts and whole milk!! :D

why would you do cardio when bulking?? eat heavy and lift heavy. do cardio while cutting. if oyur gonna do cardio while bulking i'd keep it real light, if 10-15 min a day (running).
