weeks off from training

How often does everybody take a week off to give their body time to recover. I like to take a week off after every 4 weeks of hardcore training. Just wondering what everyone else does.
 
If im sore and hurtin I take off. If im not I dont. I guage it on pain. I feel theres a certain window in time when the cells have recuperated and need to be hit again hard. There is no set amount of days off. Its in the way the muscle feels. This only comes with years of listening to your body. So listen. Its a flesh machine
 
I agree with merk!!! if body is aching, would not be a good idea... to hit it again, wait until your body has totally recovered 100%...good luck bro.....
 
overtrained???

I think i may have been overtraining. I just started to do 6 sets per muscle with full intensity, and am seeing great gains while off cycle. I guess i can go a little longer now without taking a week off.
 
I go bout 10-12 weeks and then take a whole week off and do nothing....or sometimes 2 weeks....it really helps you get remotivated!
