I see guys posting things about good food deals all the time so I thought I would show you the best way to buy beef.

1. Get a couple of Buddies to get in on it with you.

2. Look in the yellow Pages for a Meat Packing Plant, Or ask a hunter you know who cuts meat in the area.

3. Call the Plant-These are usually Mom and Pop Operations-Ask if they know a local Rancher with Steers for sale. 9/10 times they do.

4. Have him buy it and cut it for you. They may require a deposite when I did it they didn't. Pay only market price for the beef. You can check this on the Net. It is a Commoditie so the price fluctuates.

5. Tell him how you want it wrapped. Ask for extra-extra lean Hamburger and steak Packages for 2. Don't pay over .25 a lb for cutting and wrapping.

6. Enjoy total cost will be around $1.5 a lb for everything steaks burger roasts etc... An entire beef should dress out at around. 600-800 lbs

This is the way I buy all my beef. A buddy of mine runs a farm with his dad, and we have baught 1/4's from him for years now. It's a little more than 1.50lb though, ours comes out to about 1.65 a lb, but that is HANGING weight of the side of beef, not total weight of just the meat.

mine also is hanging. it depends on what the live price is when you buy more than anything. watch your prices and you can get it cheaper. A good steer should dress about 65% a pig 75% and sheep 55%
