I know notacow monitors his glucose levels for the several hours after the slin is active.

Does anyone else do this? And if so, what do you use?

I was looking around at wal mart tonight and there are a couple different ways/brands to choose from.

Do I need to get the test strips and one of those digital monitors? Is there an easier way?

What brand and/or system do you guys use to check sugar levels?

Thanks,
Hostile

The Freestyle machine (red box with a blue butterfly) requires very little blood compared with other machines
and
Precision Xtra can test for glucose and ketones so if you do a keto cut you could get some extra use out of it

You have to bleed to test it. They are trying to build an infrared blood glucose machine that doesn't require blood but its still a few years away.

I got 'Accu-chek' at the local store for $20. I had to buy bottle of 50 test strips for it for $30 but there was a $5 tear-off-coupon on the tester box. Total cost $45 + tax

Comes with a finger pricking gadget and some sample lancets.

You should ALWAYS monitor your G levels when doing slin. Not doing so could lead to a coma. The G checkers that require more blood tend to be more accurate. Make sure you wash the finger you use before you prick it.

I am going to get my Accu-Check this weekend.

Exactly what am I looking for? What is the ideal reading for humalog at let's say: 30 min, 1 hour, 1.5 hours, 2 hours after shot.
