Question for those who compete or diet down like so

it is hard not to binge after a show. I usually will slide for a few weeks and then tighten up on my diet. I have been slipping alot here latley. I havent competed since june of 2000. Getting the bug to do one this summer. I believe in gaining alot in the offseason. I do cardio year round at least 30 min 6 times a week. But i still manage to pack on the weight. You have to enjoy yourself and eat some good foods. You cant punish yourself all year. I know a guy who eats tuna and rice every day oh he could step on stage anytime but who wants to suffer like that.

Life is too short not to eat some good old junk.
God din't make Cheese steaks and scraple for nothing!

LOL presser I am gettin so damn fat I got me a beer gut now...lets see as far eating...I do mcd's 3 double hamburgers small fries and a dr. pepper and I do this atleast once a week. The main thing I do in off season is get my protein in first and then eat w/e is in site...for example yesterday I had a protein shake and then half a pizza. I think in a bit I am gonna eat some chicken and then some choc oatmeal cookies!!! I start cleaing up my diet around beg. of march and that is just cleaning, I basically just drop milk and stuff like that but still eat w/e I want till I start serious cutting.

When i binge, i feel like im hurting my self. and thinking its not helping me. I just feel bad about it, ive cut almost all junk food out, in less i cant pack my lunch

Presser how many weeks you have before your next comp...bro eat up you deserve it man 2 shows back to back like that is a killer...

I went to Arby's yesterday and ate 2 chicken cordon bleu sandwiches and a RB&cheddar...along with a soda and a box 'o fries. My favorite is when they have 5 roast beefs for $5 though. If you can choke down an order of fries and a shake with that, it should hold you for a few hours. Honestly, the junk food for me has gotten out of hand....I'm still pulling in the amount of protien each day but it's accompanied with a lot of crap, too.

I throw it all out - usually for a good solid month.

Krispy Kremes for breakfast, Krispy Kremes for lunch.... Oops, that was my precontest diet. My bad. ;)

ROFL

Let me put it to ya like this: Burger King has $.99 doubleChesse burgers, I eat several a day and my brothers friend works at pizza hut. I'm getting stronger which means I'm building muscle so fuck it! I won't worry about appearance till march or so, 5 weeks later I'll be fine.

While bulking, as long as I get in my protein and carbs, I'll splurge a little. Yesterday, the wife made sticky buns, so after my eggwhites and oatmeal, I ate 2. After my steak and rice, I'll eat some chocolate ice cream. At a restaurant, I love blue cheese salad dressing. And once a week, I'll have pizza maybe. I try to stick to being strict but it's impossible not to sometimes and who cares when you're bulking. When I go into cutting mode in February, all the junk goes out the window!

My biggest problem after a show is the fact that I go out of control. I weighed 192 at my show at 5'7" on Saturday, by monday I had gained an unhealthy 40lbs. I ate constant for three days. I had a two inch indention in my ankles from all the water. I second problem is a keep doign it. I get alittle to fat in the off season. Not this year hey SKIP,

Try to stay as clean as possible-no junk-I cook for a living and if you ever saw what goes into a lot of fast food -you'd NEVER eat it!!-My big treat is 2T polaner all-fruit on my oatmeal in the AM-and if I'm feeling really wild I'll have 2 or 3 oatmeal cookies-no carbs after 6 regardless-too hard to lose it once its on-I remember too vividly the 6am cardio sessions on an empty gut-no junk is worth it-Oh I took 3 days after my last show and ate crap-but now its clean and I'm 15 lbs heavier than I was on stage-I hate the yo-yo-trying consistency for a while!!!!

I've been really strict on my diet for about 8-10 weeks prior to starting hormone replacement therapy (200mg cyp every 11-12 days so far). I've started to get a little out of control on the diet, especially this last week. Home on vacation, and I'm eating tons of cereal as my carbs (cracklin oat bran, or granola, or both), or making a fruit smoothie (half a fresh pineapple, a banana, handful of blueberries). And of course my protein. I'm up at least 10 lbs (probably more like 12) in the 3 weeks or so. I need to reel things in just a little, I think.

I have tried it both ways - clean offseason and not-so-clean offseason. I don't go for fast food but I do use things like poptarts and granola bars for carbs. As long as I get the amount of carbs I am shooting for, I don't care where they come from in the offseason. I have made MUCH better gains, and have clients who have made much better gains this way. Yes, you need to keep tabs on bodyfat levels. Some are more comfortable going higher with their bodyweight in the offseason and some are not.

It would also depend on whether you can diet without losing the size that you have acquired at higher bodyfat levels.

Now, damn it, who is that guy that is so damned good at this?.....
Hmmm....... ;)

Skip's out.

Skip, since I'm 6'4", I think the hard dieting really takes toll on my mass-my thinking is I will retain my gains better, thereby looking fuller with doing as little cardio and dieting as possible-I just think being so damn tall I already look like a damn beanpole on stage!!I get all my carbs and then some with my oatmeal and all-fruit but if you really think "junking it up" will help let me know-I could kill a dozen KK custard filled!!!!!
