Hurt my shoulder, took off about 5 months for a variety of reasons. and low and behold after lifting for a week, shoulder pain is back as bad as it was 5 months ago. On bench I never went above 275 last week. so today i said I would squat and try to push bench back a couple of days. I could not get any amount of weight not even 80 pounds back behind my neck. So I said fuck this i went to the doctor right then and there. It seemed that I new as much as him. i told him that it is either a bad case of bursitis or probaly a partial tear, he agreed somewhat but kept adding it could be a shoulder sprain. I requested that i probably need a MIR, he said I could if I wanted but to try physical therapy first. So since i have no insurance I figured that I would give it a try, I know it cost money too, but the mri would be about two thousand, plus if I needed a operation. He said that many partial tears are treated fine with physical therapy. I am trying to get back after a long layoff and it sucks, I can't seem to do any excersises, have to let the shoulder heal. Somtimes I think i am going to quit and eat fucking donuts a drink beer all day.

What kind of doc did you go to? I'd go to a good orthopeodist/sports medicine doc. I had similar problems, and got mine diagnosed as arthritis (his first guess, confirmed after an x-ray). A shot of cortizone, and a week later I was back to normal, and have been fine for a couple months now. We also discussed how I can alter my lifting (avoid barbell exercises) to avoid having it flare up again. Anyway, a good doc can have a good idea of the problem just by the movements that hurt. Good luck!
