I'm not really a big fan of either, but I guess I will be pulling for the canes, I've started liking them more ever since they got screwed out of the title game a few years ago when the bcs first started.

Stopping MacGahee won't be easy.

I know all we have heard about this week on ESPN is "Clarett, Clarett, Clarett".....

Who was # 5 in the Heisman Trophy balloting this year ? Not Mr Clarett, he didn't even get invited to NY. McGhahee is feeling like he has something to prove, that is not a smart thing to do....a 'Cane that feels disrespected gets very angry and makes a point. Dorsey also has something to prove.....

It should be fun :D

Ohio State isn't that good! They only had 3 good ranked opponents they beat...and 2 of them they only won by 5-6pts! Miami will win easily I think!

And one of those "ranked" teams that Ohio St beat got it's ass KICKED in the Rose Bowl, which only goes to prove how bad the Pussy-10 and the Small-Televen are.

It all boils down to this......

If Iowa loses tonight, and Miami wins Friday night, for the 3rd year in a row, the Big East will have proven they are in fact the best conference.

- Only Conference with 2 National Championships since the BCS came into being in 1999.

- Only Conference to play for 3 National Championships (Va Tech in 1999, Miami in 2001-02)

- If Miami wins the Big East will be 4-1 this year in bowls, last year was 4-1 and in 2000 was 4-1.

- The Big East will also win the innaugural Conference Championship Trophy presented by ESPN.

Major disappointment of the bowls again was the Bogus-12, with losses to Mississippi, Wisconsin, and especially to Boise St......BOISE STATE ?!?!?!?!?!? Isn't that one of those teams you beat up on in the early season before conference play like Toledo or New Mexico State ?

Bwhahahaha ! :D

what it all boils down to is college football started with the Big 10-tradition-integrity-honor-history-football in "The Shoe" is more like church than a stadium-any given day any given team can beat anyone-I started this thread for some simple opinions and as usual some "johnny-come lately" from the Big East pipes up and starts quoting stats from the last 4 years-do yourself a favor-go back 100 years-see who was playing-then total conference championships and bowl victories and heismans and see what you come up with?-Consistency and longevity are what make a program great-regardless of the outcome-The Ohio State University has one of the premiere programs in the country and over time will continue to be the class of the Big 10!!!!
PS:all the trash talk has no place on the board, field or anywhere else-immature gibberish-pointless drivel usually reserved for those with nothing intelligent to contribute-cheer for your boys and have respect for your opponent!-or don't they teach that in South Florida???

I am going to have to go with Miami here, but Cirrus get of Miami's ass, Clarret is the best back i can remember in a long time, and let him run behind Miami's O line and you have possibly the Heisman winner as a true freshman.

Oh and by the way, i don't even think it will be close. I am thinking like 42-14 Miami. Just a prediction so don't flame me.

"tradition-integrity-honor-history-football" doesn't win football games bro, hitting and scoring points does. I have a LOT of respect for tOSU, but your Big-10 smugness bugs the crap out of me and most "true" Hurricane fans.

The facts are :

Ripped Chef.....history means NOTHING, it's what you do today.

But if you wish to play the HISTORY game, lets play by all means.

If my memory serves correctly, Miami has been on top of the football world for about 20 years. 5 Championships in 20 years as a matter of fact. Miami has been playing football for 76 years. We are not a "johnny-come-lately" program. tOSU hasn't won a title since 1968, or played for one since 1979.

Win-or-lose this game, the Miami program has the 3rd longest winning streak in the HISTORY of college football. Miami does own the LONGEST home winning streak in history (58 straight games from 1985-94). Of the 58 games, 31 of them were against ranked teams or teams that were ranked by the end of the season.

In the present 34 game streak they have played and beaten 16 ranked teams, including a # 1, a # 2, a # 3 and three # 4's. They have played and won on the road at Florida, F$U, Tennessee, Penn St, and Virginia Tech, and that is just in the last 3 years. They beat Washington, FSU (twice), Virginia Tech (twice) all at the Orange Bowl and all were ranked in the top 10 when they beat them.

Since 1981, Miami can lay claim to playing and beating a # 1 nine times

- Penn St Oct 31st 1981 at the Orange Bowl 17-14
- Nebraska Jan 2nd 1984 at the Orange Bowl 31-30 (1st title)
- Auburn Aug 27th 1984 in the Kickoff Classic 20-18
- Oklahoma Sep 27th 1985 in Norman Ok 28-16
- Oklahoma Jan 1st 1988 at the Orange Bowl 20-14 (2nd title)
- Florida St Sep 3rd 1988 at the Orange Bowl 31-0
- Notre Dame Nov 25th 1989 at the Orange Bowl 27-10
- Florida State Oct 27th 2000 at the Orange Bowl 27-24

They have also played in and if they win the Fiesta, they will be the ONLY school in college football HISTORY to have won the Fiesta, Cotton, Rose, Orange and Sugar Bowls.

Miami has been in 28 bowl games and has won 21 of them. Ohio St has been in 46 bowl games and has won 25 of them

If Miami wins the Fiesta, they will tie Ohio St for titles, playing football 27 or so years LESS than Ohio St.

By the way, tOSU has only been in the Big-10 for 91 seasons, not 100.

I have been a Hurricane since I was a baby....going to my 1st game when I was 2, a 2-0 victory at the Orange Bowl over a Rose Bowl bound Oregon team.

I've been a season ticket holder since 1983, but was a student 1978-82. I've been there through a 5-6 season in 1997 as well as the one winning season (1976) of the 1970's.

And win or lose, I will always be a 'Cane :D I'll be the 1st to congradulate Ripped Chef if tOSU wins tomorrow night.

Oh by the way, Miami's defese didn't give up 45 points to Va Tech, 2 TD's were as a result of offensive mistakes that Va Tech ran back for TD's.

...but they are the best team in college football, period...i think OSU can stay with them because of their defense and maybe cover the line, but Miami has been in this same position last year and with that experience they have the edge imo...i just want to see a very competitive game and no blowout...
