fathers and sons at the gym

i always find it amusing when these fathers come in with their young sons...mayb 6th grade and "show them the ropes" i mean seriously....these guys r jokes and cant even do the exercises correctly and r showing them what they think is the correct way to do them and are only teaching them wrong form and will only hurt them in the long run......its nice to see that the son looks up to the father as a role model but i would never try to teach my son or daughter anything that i have no clue about!
mayb i would do some research on a board like Musclechemistry.com and learn all i can and even workout once in awhile so i can show them the proper way to do things. any one else got these fools in the gym??

Haven't seen that... I did bring my dad in and show him what I do, though!

woa buddy, lay off...that's why i'm into bodybuilding is because my dad showed me at a young age. i look back on it now and it wasn't the perfect way to do things, but because of him it sparked my interest and i read a lot and now i know how to get quality workouts. now i'm the one showing him what to do, and i still work out at the gym with my dad. best partner i've ever had...he's almost sixty and i'm twenty... just my .00000000000000002 cents

look...i am not saying that their is anything wrong with the father/son lifting 2 gether but take some time to learn how to do the exercises correctly and how not to endanger the child....
for example....at my gym there is this father that thinks he is king shit and can bench probably 330 or so...well his kid is like a sohomore in high school..like 6' and around 140 and the bastard throws on something like 295, what he happens to b doing at the time, and makes him "try" the weight....r u fuckin kidding me??!!this is what brought this to my attention.

I don't think people intentionally teach there kids to do it the wrong way. I am sure they think they are being correct in showing them the ropes. Help the bro and his kid out with some friendly advice, get them both going the correct route.

the guy is a jackass and i guess he was some sort of big jock in high school or some shit and he thinks he is god.

One of those guy's, That's different. He sounds like the guy who will get his kid hurt by living his life thru his kid. Noway to start a kid out getting his sternum snapped.

ya pisses me off too. but what is even worse is the pt's at some gyms. they are hired to show people how to lift properly, and half the time they don't even know. i saw a female personal trainer at my gym showing a young boy how to squat. her back was almost 90 degress to the floor. being the quite one that i am i had to step in and say something. i mean come on your payed to do the job at least learn how to do it.

ah, see your point...i've been a little edgy lately, must be the testosterone talking... we cool prez

Funny you should bring that up, had a pair in last nite. This feller that I see in the gym all the time (don't know what the flark he does) had his son in there. He didn't do anything stupid, but just didn't know what the hell he was doing. Thank god our high school has a full time strength and conditioning coach now, I just wish they had one when I was there.
