gettin gear from mexico

I have a buddy who wants to go to mexico and bring stuff back. he does not really know what he is doing and I wanted to advise him the best I can, so I figured you guys would know better than me. what is the best way, bring it over your self or mail it and how should he go about it either way. Also where is the best place down there to go. I REALLY appreciate any help you guys give me! thanks
