repping out 225 on the bench

I don't normally do flat bench, but I hadn't worked out my triceps the day before, and I'm getting a little sick of dumbbell flys, so I did them this week. I was interested in seeing how many reps I could get of 225 lbs - since it's something the NFL scouts look at and is published for most college seniors, I could kind of compare myself to them. I also didn't want to go to heavy and screw up my shoulders.

Has anyone else seen how many reps they could do with 225?

not me but i have a buddy in the gym
they crazy fuck does 100 reps.. not at once..
Each set is a burnout... not sure I could check but his first one was some where around high 20s to low 30s i think... he is a monster

I've never tried, I think I may next week on chest day.

Anyone know why the figure they use is 225? That is something I was always curious about.

I forgot to put how many I did.... I got 22. I saw a routine to increase that, and basically you just rep out as many as you can, to failure, for several sets. I think I'm going to work on that for the next bit on chest day!

BTW, if you do a web search on like "nfl 225 bench" you'll get hits on what a lot of players got. It was kinda neat seeing all of the drafted players, especially the linemen, who are benching 400+ but repping out in the low 20's or lower. Made me feel strong :D

at one of my first gyms ever the dick head owner did 40 straight, twice! lol, its all about lactic acid build up and nothing else,

in the combines it is wise to use a baking soda concoction wich kills the lactic acid build up as to keeep on going, i havent tryed this in maybe 5 yrs but i was at like 27 and they didnt count 28 and 29 the dicks, lol but now i would love to try, but its pointless to me,lol

Presser is correct, an O-Lineman on my old team used to Max at close to 550 and could only do 10-12 reps max at 225. I could never understand that back then. At my best when I got 31 my max bench was only 405.

I remember reading that they rep w/ 225 becausue they want to see there total strength and indurance. There is a conversion for how many reps you do and it gives your max bench. I believe they do this to prevent players from trying to lift excessive amounts which might cause them injury.

Then again, many variables come into play like Presser stated.

Yea a few years back when i was playing ball i could do 25 .But i would do close grip hell i would be happy to do 15 now LMAO

Yea choke i worked out with a guy that could squat 300 for 30 reps but could never get 600 for a single.Boy it sux a big 1 to have bad knees because i luv to work out with my legs. After i do a good leg workout i can't walk for a wk do to my knees

300 lbs for 30 reps is INSANE.
I posted last week that I started doing SuperSquats.
I did 315 for 20 with deep breathing, it took me damn near 4 minutes, it almost killed me.
