in easy terms....catabolism is actually your body feeding off your muscles. this is the main thing that bb try to stop form happening. it is very important to intake carbs and protein within the first hour after a workout. especially carbs. your body has just gone through a hard workout, and is now looking to refuel and repair itself. so if there's not enough resources (food) it will take what it can get (muscle) ...catabolism. also pure protein (no carbs) a shake is best, right before you go to bed. will also stop catabolism.

I believe that it would be best to consume a mix of low (pasta, rice, oatmeat, anything whole wheat and unrefined) and med (potatoes, fruit, breads) glycemic index carbs. and have a shake right before a workout, one right after (high in sugars).
