Insulin question

From what I have gatherred from reading one's body does not recover from insulin supplementation like one's body does from AS supplementation (please correct me if I am wrong...)

so my 3 questions are:

1. How does one avoid becomming diabetic? Just low doses and don't do it too often or too long so your body does not adjust to it or what?

2. What steps does one take to avoid becomming diabetic?

3. Do you feel that becomming diabetic is overrated or is truly a high risk with insulin supplementation?

If there are recovery methods that I'm just unaware of please let me know...

just don't take too high a dose, and don't stay on more than 2-4 weeks, I personally wouldn't stay on slin more than 2 weeks.

I don't think it has actually been proved that it can make you slin dependant, it is just suspected.

1. Just run 10iu post workout for 4 weeks

2. Main thing to worry about is getting hypo, just eat your carbs

3. Yes, overrated

It's not likely to make you a diabetic bigjosh, but at the same time it is possible. If it's going to happen to you it is not a factor of how much or how long but more dependent on your individual immune response to exogenous insulin. If your body recognizes the shot of insulin as a foreign protein it will create antibodies to it in an effort to neutralize it,just like it woulds a foreign protien that a bacteria was producing for example. If this occurs then the antibodies would also attack your own insulin and that would be an irreversible event, that's how people can become diabetic if they use insulin. Much less likely to occur with Humulin, but the risk is not zero.

I am not worried about going hypo eventhough I know it is a potentially lethal side effect but it is also an avoidable one... I have excellent control over my diet... My main concern w/ insulin is becomming diabetic myself.

Thanks for the input everyone!
