NEED INJURY ADVICE!!!

O.K. heres the deal. I was doing dumbell presses for shoulders two weeks ago and about 3/4 of the way up my left arm just totally gave out and came crashing down (I think I got my arms a little too far behind my torso). Anyway this was 3 FRIGGIN' DAYS before I was going to start my cycle. It doesn't stop me from getting through a workout but it feels a little weak and the shoulder seems to get fatigued faster. It has been 2 weeks now and it has gotten a little better but it still gets that tired burning feeling when I do anything upper body. My question is this, is there anything I can take that may help heal this injury??? I have increased my glutamine (don't even know if that would help) and started taking MSM just last nite. My other question is should I go ahead and start my cycle in a few days and just alter some of my exercises to not put my shoulder in a vulnerable position? My concern is that with increased strength my shoulder may not be able to take the extra strain if it is not 100% Need input!

ive been nursing a shoulder injury for about a year , mine is soft tissue and antiimmflammatories do it wonders , they heal real real slow , mine only hurts in one motion with real heavy weight these days. (military press also) my advice is to wait on your goodies and get an xray and an mri, you need your shoulder for everything. a year of halfass workouts can kill your symmetry.

That sounds like rotator cuff problems bro! You wont' know for sure whether it's the rotator cuff tendons or the actual skeletal muscles of the deltoid that are damaged without getting to a doc and requesting an MRI. Basically, skeletal muscle damage will heal faster and has less of a liklihood of needing surgical repair than tendon damage. HOWEVER, if you tore part of your delt severely, it could need surgery to be repaired. Here's the basic test (but NOT guaranteed!) as to whether it's muscule or tendon: If it's really weak and doesn't get stronger from laying off for a week, then it's likely you have tendon damage in your rotator cuff. If it's a serious muscle tear, you'll have some sort of bruising that will be visible on the surface.

IN ANY CASE, HAVE A DOC (ORTHO) LOOK AT IT.

No bruising or anything like that. From what you say Bstrongwell it sounds like maybe tendon damage. But heres the deal, it is in the very rear of my shoulder only and it doesn't impair any of my lifts. Bench is fine, Upright rows no problem, shoulder press on the Smith machine (just to be safe)no problem. Lat pull downs fine and Rows =fine. I am going to see how it goes this weekend and if it still isn't improved I will go to the doctor Monday or Tuesday.

I would def get it checked out. If it does turn out to be worse than you thought, when your strength blows up and you reinjure it, you will have to stop and heal..hence wasting valuable money/gear. IMHO
