Is there an easy way to know if you are genetically predispositioned to go bald?

I've been told if your mom's dad is bald, then you have the gene. Is that true?

Doesn't mean that you have it but it is in your favor! Start things to prevent it by using rogaine or see your Doc if really concerned!

I would not count on the mom's dad thing. My mom's dad has a full head of hair at 78 and my hair is thinning at 35.

The gene for MPB is carried on the X chromasome. (the sex chromasome,men are XY and women are XX). You inherit your X chrom. from your mom who is XX. One of her X's came from her mother and one from her father so look at your mothers brothers hair pattern and your maternal grandmothers brothers as well as your mothers father's hair pattern to get an idea of who you might end up looking like. Any relatives on your fathers side will not matter .
