suicide,depression,etc... from the oral version, however the stuff in a tube is worth its weight in gold and if you had a pimple the size of a watermelon the gel would dry it out overnight.

someone correct me if accutane isnt the oral that cause mental probelms, i believe its the one though, but know theres another pill for acne so i hope i didnt confuse the 2

The topical Accutane works very well & it's cheep. I'd stay away from the pills, too many sides.

Birth Defects With Isotretinoin - Accutane
The side effects of isotretinoin have, in the past, have been popular, known a lot, controversial. The most noticeable, serious, side effect is its teratogenicity. This means that isotretinoin causes birth defects if women take it while they are pregnant. The birth defects isotretinoin causes include central nervous system, facial, cardiac, and thymus gland abnormalities. After isotretinoin treatment has been completed for one month, a woman can get pregnant without worry about birth defects. Accutane does not affect fertility, or make it difficult to get pregnant. Women who are taking Accutane should use two forms of birth control starting a month before treatment and continuing one month after treatment.

Serious Side Effects With Isotretinoin - Accutane

Isotretinoin therapy also has the following serious side effects.

Headaches, if persistent and associated with nausea, vomiting, and blurred vision, may be a sign of a condition called pseudotumor cerebri.
The incidence of depression, psychosis, and suicide attempts is increased, and returns to normal after discontinuing the drug.
The production of tears in the eyes is decreased, which can cause, red eyes, itchy eyes, and possibly ulcerations of the cornea, especially with contact lens wearers.
The ability to distinguish between shades of black and white can be decreased causing night blindness.
Liver enzymes can be elevated causing jaundice, hepatitis, and abdominal pain.

Other Side Effects With Isotretinoin - Accutane

Isotretinoin therapy can also cause the following less serious, but potentially annoying side effects.

Dry skin requiring the frequent use of moisturizers
Dry and cracking lips
Nosebleeds
Itchy skin (pruritis)
Thinning hair
Excessive peeling, especially of the palms and soles
Muscle aches and pains, even worse with physical activity
Increased sensitivity to the sun causing sunburns more easily
Elevated triglyceride levels

There's a lot of info around what the sides are, but not too much on the incidence of them. This is the best I've found. From the USP DI.

%of patient suffer - Symptom
16% Decrease in HDL
20% Increase in LDL
>10% Proteinuria (increases along with Creatine Kinase with Vigorous physcical activity
25% Increase in Triglycerides - Dose related
7% Increase in Cholesterol
20% Decreased WBC count
40% Eye redness, dryness, itching
90% Lip peeling, redness, dryness
80% nosebleeds
5% skin infections
10% skin rash
and everything else scorpio mentioned.
I can also can permanent baldness and night blindness. I don't have numbers for that though

From my experience with it (at 90mg qd). Peeling lips and skin (mainly on face and neck). Red skin (looked like a mild sunburn). Weekly nosebleeds (ruined a few sets of clothes). My cholesterol jumped 30 points. WBC count dropped until I got sick, then it went up. One spisode with night blindness. And I had trouble finding the right words when I spoke. It cleared up my face, but did not clear up my back (This ance wasn't from steroids though). Despite all this I am considering another 20week stint, only because my insurance will cover it.

I just found a site that will sell you accutane gel for like 19.00 bucks. Completely legal and they take 10-14 days to deliver. Also you can use your cc!
