first slin experience

After countless hours of reading and contemplating, I finally tried it.
I bought my humalog yesterday, and it was just calling my name and tanting me today, after my leg workout. I used 5 IU's, followed by 50g of twin lab ultra fuel, 40g whey and ~10g creatine. yeah, I know that I could have just used dextrose, but I had a few bucks burning a hole in my pocket, so I got the ultra fuel. one hour later, I had pasta, fruit, and some more ultra fuel.
I was a little scared, but two hours have passed now since the shot, and it all went very smoothly. I carried a glass of dissolved dextrose with me everywhere I went. can't wait to see what kind of results I'll get. If you see any flaws with my system, PLEASE let me know. :D
oh yeah, harvey's post on slin was a great help. thanx to all the bros who contributed to it
 
Good luck, as long as you stay good on your carbs, you'll be fine.

What state are you in? In SC I believe you have to have a prescription for Humalog.
 
I'm from the great white north (Canada, that is). Slin and pins are otc here. And this stuff is sooo cheap. I paid only ~$20 US for a 10 ml vial.
 
oh yeah, one more thing... doing this makes a person realize how tasteless a sandwitch with just mustard and low fat ham is, and how tasty butter can be. I don't know how some people can stand being on a low fat diet... poor souls:p

well, almost 5 hours passed, time for a pizza and off to bed:D
 
I will be buying slin over the next couple of days.....still kinda scared, but I'm sure I'll get over it. Keep us informed...
 
yeah, I was pretty scared too. to put myself a little more at ease, I'm buying a glucagon pen and glucose tabs today.
 
It's been three days since your original post, how it going? I plan to go that route in the near future. Going to use it post cycle to help maintain gains.

well, heres an update. first day I too 5 IU's, and second day 6, which went smmoothly. on the third day, however, when I took 7, I experienced slight hypo (this morning). the funny thing is that it happened just as I was eating my pasta. I downed some more glucose quickly, but for about 10 minutes I felt very weak and naseaus (sp?). I think that I waited a little too ling with my meal. so a word of caution: if taking humalog, start eating your meal 30-45 minutes after the shot. I have a new respect for slin now, perhaps even fear. If youre thinking of trying it for the first time, start out low, and increase doses GRADUALLY! I know that everyone probably heard this before, but I'll say it again: be very carefull. I would not recommend taking this stuff when youre home alone, especially if you are a novice. All the warnings you read about it are there for a reason.

I think that I the problem stemmed from me eating the wrong kind of carbs. I took in too many high glycemic carbs, and too few low and med ones. I did sip on juce during my second meal, but that just wasn't enough, until I downed some glucose (dextrose).

yes it is, don't take it lightly. I have decided to give it a try again today, b/c yesterday I wasn't too sure if slin is for me. And I made up my mind that if I experience hypo again, I won't take it anymore. but, todays trial went very smooth. I think thath with humalog, only the first two hours are when you really have to wwatch yourself. don't get me wrong, I really pay attention to how I feel for full four hours, but if you stuff yourself with a good mix of carbs during the 30 min to 90 min bracket, youll be okay (post shot carb/ crea/prot drink taken as well, of course). than just keep nibblig on carbs untill you are clear. humalg is the only way to go for me, b/c I just can't see myself eating carbs for six frigging hours. I love fat!!

shug, if you do decide to try it, don't go over 5iu's for the first time. there was an article floating around suggesting to start with 8-10, but I think that that's insane.
