exercise addiction, what to do?

guys im totally addicted to the gym and working out, it seems for about the past 6 years i have been obsessed with working out. Its getting to the point lately that i'am becoming very antisocial with my friends and i rarely go out and enjoy life. Im wondering if maybe i should go see a doctor or something, because im getting really depressed because of this. if any of you guys have gone through similar phases some advice would be great.
 
Damn bro, I guess realizing you have an obsession is a good step. Just make an effort to bring other things into your life. I think if it is causing you to be depressed you miss your friends and what not, just force yourself to make time for those things you are missing. I guess if your gunna get addicted to something you hit the fucking jackpot. Best of luck bro, don't get crazy over this just do some fun shit, the gym will alway's be there.
 
If it's bothering you, I'd definitely go see a doc/therapist. There's definitely more out there than just the gym, although the gym definitely is important.
 
And you can always incorporate exercise in other things... Maybe take a martial arts class, pick up a sport as a hobby, go roller blading, or biking...
 
I'm not obcessed, but I definitely don't go out like I used to....the bar scene is not appealing to me in the least
 
bigshug has a healthy lookout-jshoty you need to force yourself to do other things- they can still be healthful for your body and mind.
 
Get a good workout partner. Someone you can pal around with. Make the gym more social. Just don't talk the whole time you are there that gets annoying.
 
just enjoy life....it isnt going to kill you to go out with your friends for some drinks.....as far as seeing a therapist....you are your best therapist.....
 
A workout partner might help. Make yourself get out, a lot of times I don't want to go out or do anything, but then I go and end up having a lot of fun.

If you've been working out for 6 years you should have a darn good body by now. Dress to show it off and go get laid! Then you'll realize one of the reasons you've been working out for 6 years.
 
ya i think its time for me to get outa this damn rut, thx for the advice guys its nice to know people actually care.
