Just thought I would share something funny I seen at the gym the other day. There was an older gentleman bench pressing the other day. Didn't really think too much of it, he was benching like 75 lbs or so. Then something caught my eye, he had wrist wraps on..........hmmmmm. So I kinda watch him on his second set, he lays down on the bench, gets his wraps around the bar good and tight and begins his lifting. God bless his soul for being in there, but I wonder sometimes if people actually THINK about what they do.

I think I missed the funny part.

Is it the wrist straps while benching? I have never used them while benhing - just on back days, but I have heard people say it supports your grip on presses too. *shrug*

So.. what was the funny part?

That he was using and wrapping the bar with wrist straps, while benching. I've seen people do that before. I have no clue why they do it, I suspect they don't either.

jpn69, how would wrist wraps give you "support" on pressing movements? Do you tape your ankles for a shoulder workout? To me it was like someone wearing one of those funny bench press shirts for squatting. Awww friggin' forget it!

LOL if you need grip support while benching, your using the wrong bar. I've benched for 20 years and never had a bar slip, I'm with ya Gander. I might try the bench shirt for squatting though. LMAO.

I got it gander. I see shit like that in my gym all the time. ppl looking at me cause I am built and look like I belong in the gym and they have an attitude, then grab some 25# dumbells and do presses with them. all I can do is laugh. or ppl rolling their shoulders while doing shrugs, or the best is the new guy the other day who was in there with jeans and a polo on working out. then when he got done with a set he would go look at his hair in the mirror and fix it ... what a shmuck !

Oh yeah, definitely! I'd get a couple of different lengths, and mix things up a bit and keep people wondering!

Al, I'd damn near pay money to see that shit!!

I'm guilty of wearing wrist straps for every workout....I went in one day to work back and ended up working bi's and tri's instead...I had the most kick ass workout that day that I've ever had, and so I got all superstitious and attributed it to my wearing straps....

This wasn't funny....

Today I was doing fly's on a bench. I know it takes up a little more room, but I figure people would walk around the benches, like most of us do to give people room that are using them. I was on a bench at the end of the row, and just about flat out with the dumbells when some ass-hole walks past and bumps into my arm. luckily, it didn't cause any problems (I've dislocated both shoulders and they can dis-locate on me easily sometimes). I heard a "sorry' and as I was in the middle of the set, just kept concentrating on my exercise. But I thought that the general lack of consideration deserved a rant. Sometimes the things we see going on are funny because they are kind of pathetic, but this one pissed me off. If I had seen it comming, I would have tried to drop the weight on his f'in toe and hope for a break.

Yeah, I've had that kind of stuff happen. Last leg day, I was squating fairly heavy for me (385), and this idiot is removing weights FROM THE SQUAT RACK I'M USING! And it's tight in there, too! And there are plates all over the freaking place, no need to take them from where he did.

Whatever happened to consideration?

That is not cool Badger, when someones stupidity puts your health in jeopardy then there is a problam that needs to be addressed.

Yeah, no kidding! I was doing ab work on a crunch machine... Did 3 sets, was squating next to the machine between sets 3 and 4 writing my reps in my folder, and this lady climbs on the machine. Ok, annoying, but I'll let her work in, but she didn't even ask... I stood there kinda glaring at her, right next to the machine. She finishes her set, and just sits there on the machine! I'm like "Excuse me, I have 1 more set". She tells me she's not done, she has 3 more sets! So I made her get up and let me do my set - she said she didn't realize I was using the machine??? WTF? Anyway, then she wanted to chit chat with me about how much weight I was doing. Ugh.

Seems to be a lot of this going around. I didn't even see what the guy looked like cause I was looking up and trying to concentrate on keeping the weight under control as I lowered them. Since nothing really came of it I let it go, figured it wasn't intentional, but it still pissed me off.

Anybody hate it when people will stand in front of the mirror you're using so they can look at theirself while NOT doing an exercise? I was using the pec deck while some asshole just walks in front me and just looks at himself. Can't they move the extra foot and let me stay focused while using the mirror?

I was deadlifting fairly heavy the other day, and there were a shitload of people around who weren't paying any attention to what was going on around them....fuck 'em, I picked that shit up off the floor and started pounding out reps and making much noise...they all scattered, pisses me off though, at one point when I was coming back from the water fountain, some guy had his foot on the plates like a damn footrest.....

Badger that is messed up, you have a right to be PISSED. Al, I had the same thing happen to me. I was on a leg press machine (Cybex) and just got done with a set and hopped out 'cause my legs were SCREAMING and this lady plops her ass right down - WTF????? She then pulled the same shiot.... do a set and just sit there and look around. AAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
