Hurt myself Arm Wrestling... AGAIN!!!

OK so over the weekend I went to this party that my friend was having. We were all friends there and everyone noticed how big and buff I've gotten since the last time i've seen them, so now everyone wants to challenge me in arm wrestling to see how much stronger i've gotten.

I personally didn't want to arm wrestle anyone, because I knew if I did I might hurt myself. Last time this happened I pulled my bicept and couldn't work out for a good 2-3 weeks.

Well, when your drunk and a little high, you tend to do things you don't want to. And this is the case tonight, so one after another I pulverize all that gets into my way. I must have beaten 6-7 guys that night. To be honest i don't remember most of it, but what i do remember is the next day while playing basketball, I threw a full court pass with my arm-wrestling arm (my right) and my arm threw out. Basically I couldn't use my arm for a good 2 hrs, I was in excrutiating pain. I mean I couldn't even hold my arm up with my own strength. I had to hold my arm in a sling position using my left arm.

Driving home was biz-natch. I drive a stick shift, and I had to shift with my left arm and steer with my left arm. That really sucked. BUt right now my arm hurts any time i try to use it for anything.

I just wanted to know if there are any tips I could use to speed up this recovery. I want to get back into the gym asap, but don't want to hurt myself even more. Any medications I should take, special stretching excercises?

Also if you have any similar stories, please feel free to let us know. I'm curious to see how many of you guys have been hurt arm-wrestling like myself.

Sounds like you hyperextended it. You can ice it, 15 minutes on the hour but that type of injury requires rest. Not a whole lot more you can do.

any advice to speed up the recovery... also how long should I anticipate until I am ready to hit the gym again?

nada.... Only you could be able to answer when... Rest it for a week and THEN try some light lifting.. If painfull.. give it another week...

No more arm wrestling when drinking....

point taken, arm wrestling when drunk isn't the smartest thing to do, but if your at a party with all your buddies and there's like 3 of your buddies there whom you've NEVER beaten in arm-wrestling... and since the last time the two of you have arm-wrestled, you(as in me) have put on a good 30 lbs of muscle, it's hard to resist... i'm sorrie... my ego takes over when i'm intoxicated!!

Ice should help, don't leave it on more than 15 minutes at a time though.

The thing with arm-wrestling.. is a lot of people think that is a good way to measure how big/strong one's arm is but in fact the circumference of your arm is only a small part of how well one can arm-wrestle...

Obviously, technique is the biggest part to arm-wrestling...but with that said... the most important muscle used for arm wrestling I would have to say from personal experiences is one's shoulder strength... If your shoulder is strong, you in turn are really strong as far as arm wrestling is concerned...

Forearms are also a part of how strong you can get...

I really do'nt know why I'm saying this... just blabering, but hey... atleast your reading.. and also this is a nice way to get my thread bumped... I need some recovery tips..

One person mentioned to me I should go hot/cold in the shower.. basically put the water really hot and have the shower head spray right into your muscle, do that for 30 seconds or so and then go really cold and spray that into the muscle... I guess it's a way to shock the muscle which should aide in recovery... He said do that for a good 5-10 min... I've tried it and my arm came out really relaxed...

hopefully I can get into the gym real soon.
