View Full Version : What color is Sesame Seed Oil??? --Quick help.

I am just getting started with my experiment with cyp powder I just noticed the "100% Pure Sesame Seed Oil" that I bought Is DARK BRWOWN WTF!!!
Is this right?? Please help as I'd like to continue if this is right.

Same color as extra virgin olive oil

yeah, If it's dark brown it's got something else in it. If you get sesame at a asian food market, they sometimes flavor it with dark soy sauce. It is not pure, nor would you want to use it for research. Like Harvey said, it should say 100% pure and the only ingrediant should be sesame oil.

the one in my supermarket says 100% pure and its a dark brown colout

Yup, mine says "100% Sesame Oil" on the front and under ingredients it says "Pure Sesame Seed Oil". But it's BROWN!!

Should I just use Peanut Oil???? Instead.

the dark brown is toasted - most of what you find in the store is.
Peanut oil works just fine!

Hate to beat a dead horse but I just want to make sure I get this right.
At the supermarket what is the best bet?? Peanut oil? Canola, Safflower,??
Will peanut oil go rancid faster than sesame?
