Trade name NO2(arginine alpha-ketoglutarate) claims to hemodilate generating a "perpetual pump"... vascular-hardness,accelerate fast-twitch muscle strength, enhanced recovery time and endurance. Anyone try it out yet?

just started about a week ago taking 10 tabs aday  supposed to be the shit. Talked with the guy that came up with it at the Arnold Classic he was at the BOSS nutrition booth they will be the east coast suppliers for the stuff.I will let you know when and if things start happening. later

I got comp't a bottle of the stuff and the claims almost sound to good to be true but ...WTF it's free so started taking it today <!--emo&GG--><img src="http://musclechemistry.mantisforums.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bigsmile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='GG'><!--endemo-->  Figured I'd try it for a month and see. Did you do a loading dose? I was told to load @12/d divided into 2 doses for 1st 5 days then 6/d divided in two doses on empty stomach.Definetly keep me posted on your results and I'll do same. I haven't been able to find any research articles on it,lots on ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate,but not much on arginine AKG. Anyone seen any studies?

Experimental studies have clearly demonstrated both the indispensability in stress situations of amino acids, previously considered to be non-essential, and the importance of the specific properties of these same amino acids. Glutamine, arginine and their precursors/metabolites, ornithine and alpha-ketoglutarate, exert anabolic or anticatabolic effects through their involvement in protein metabolism, in the immune response and in cell proliferation. Clinical studies suggest that the supplementation of nutritional therapy with these amino acids can be of significant benefit for injured patients.

Thanks for the link Gear101,but I couldn't find anything on A-AKG using the search or product index.......I swear I'm not stoned(....yet anyways). Can you help me out ????

WHAT IS IT?

OKG is Ornithine Alpha-Ketoglutarate, an amino acid complex which is a combination of Ornithine and Glutamine. Each capsule contains 850 mg of OKG and 5mg of Vitamin C. Other ingredients are gelatin, whey and Magnesium stearate.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

OKG may be an effective anabolic in the case of burns or injuries. Such conditions induce a catabolic state wherein the body tears itself down. OKG may prevent or possibly reverse this process.

OKG has been shown to improve protein retention, wound repair, and immune function in hospitalized patients partly by increasing levels of anabolic (growth-promoting) hormones such as insulin and growth hormone.

Arginine and ornithine are precursors of nitric oxide and polyamines, respectively -metabolites which participate in a number of metabolic functions. OKG supplements have been shown to promote growth hormone and insulin secretion with anabolic effects in postoperative patients. Their intermediary metabolites (glutamine & proline) may also have beneficial effects in promoting recovery from trauma. In animal studies, OKG supplementation increases levels of arginine and glutamine in skeletal muscles and stimulates immune system function compared to animals not receiving OKG. The immunomodulatory properties found with OKG suggest that it may enhance host-defense mechanisms, particularly during injury and acute stress.

OKG supplements (15 grams per day for 5 months) have been shown to improve growth rates in small children. The OKG supplements resulted in elevated concentrations of anabolic (growth) hormones and amino acid metabolites, including insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1), glutamine and glutamate. In another study of healthy men, OKG given at 10 grams per day resulted in a 20-30% elevation in insulin (another anabolic hormone), which were not observed with supplementation of either ornithine or alpha-ketoglutarate alone.

A test tube study found that OKG induces a significant increase in growth of human fibroblasts – cells with similarities to muscle fiber cells. This effect was dose-dependent, meaning that a more pronounced growth effect was noted with increasing levels of OKG (but not with increasing levels of ornithine or alpha-ketoglutarate alone).

In a double-blind placebo-controlled trial of 60 individuals who had suffered extensive burns, treatment with OKG improved protein balance and speeded up the healing process.

In another large, well-controlled trial, non-hospitalized elderly persons benefited from 10 grams per day of OKG as they recovered from various illnesses or surgery, showing improved appetite, weight gain, muscle growth, reduced need for medical care, and improved quality of life.

OKG was in vogue among body builders but the jury is still out regarding its effectiveness. Taken as a powder the taste was reported to be bad and caused nausea. The capsules should not have this effect.

Manufacturer's Description
NO2 has created a revolutionary new category of muscle-builders and muscle-enhancers known as 'cell-signaling hemodilators.' Through mediation of the "signaling-molecule" nitric oxide (NO), NO2 induces powerful hemodilation and creates dramatic increases in muscle size, strength, endurance, power output, and load capacity.

With its advanced sustained-release technology "pHyser3", NO2 generates a virtual permanent muscle pump, now known as the "perpetual pump."

NO2 was created by the same man who introduced creatine to the market in 1993 - Ed Byrd, co-founder of EAS™ and now president of Medical Research Institute - MRI™.

NO2 creates - and sustains - levels of nitric oxide in the skeletal muscles.

Nitric oxide is the muscle's "cell-signaling" molecule responsible for blood flow (hemodilation), oxygen delivery, glucose uptake, muscle velocity, power output, and muscle growth.

By creating and then "sustaining" levels of nitric oxide in the skeletal muscles NO2 delivers sustained muscle-enhancing benefits around the clock. Like amplifying muscle-growth signals for faster gains in lean mass, accelerating both fast and slow twitch muscle fiber for greater strength, providing complete "full-body muscle recovery," and increasing endurance index (EI).

In addition, NO2's sustained hemodilation (continuous and amplified blood-surge to the skeletal muscles) generates a perpetual pump.

NOTE: Before the introduction of NO2, hemodilation occurred only during intense exercise, and lasted for a relatively brief time. Now, with NO2's extended-release delivery system pHyser3, it is possible for hemodilation to last all day long. That means greater results and faster gains for you. And, of course, a "Perpetual Pump."

No other supplement or substance can create nitric oxide levels in skeletal muscle. No other supplement or substance can "sustain" levels of nitric oxide in skeletal muscle. No other supplement or substance can generate a continual and amplified blood-surge (hemodilation) to the skeletal muscles.

Until the creation of NO2's extended-release delivery system (pHyser3), generating and maintaining nitric oxide levels was impossible. The human body's pH factor literally "dissolved" any agent or substance that could help generate nitric oxide inside the body. Now, with NO2's pH-corrected, body-compatible delivery system, pHyser3, the human body is able to not only "accept" the nitric oxide delivery agent, but also sustain levels of nitric oxide in the muscles throughout the entire day.

Now athletes and bodybuilders can finally get all the powerful benefits of hemodilation - all day long. Including faster gains in muscle mass, increased strength and endurance, and the creation of the "Perpetual Pump."

Hemodilation means a widening of the blood channels leading to skeletal muscles through the mechanism of "amplified" blood flow.

The word 'Hemodilation' comes from combining 'Hemo' [from the Greek word 'haima' meaning blood] and 'Dilator' [from the Latin word 'dilatare' meaning to widen]. The measure of the widening of the blood canals is calculated by the "dilation differential™" - known as d-delta™.

Hemodilation is initiated by nitric oxide synthesis. Nitric oxide is the "cell-signaling" molecule responsible for blood flow, oxygen delivery, glucose uptake, muscle velocity, power output, and gene-expression, or muscle growth. By sustaining nitric oxide levels in the skeletal muscles, NO2 generates its sustained hemodilation. The channels that deliver muscle building agents to the muscle cells become "forced open" and remain that way throughout the day. The results are faster gains in lean mass, greater strength, increased endurance, complete full-body muscle recovery, and a "perpetual pump."

NOTE: Hemodilation is a new term that came into existence with the discovery of nitric oxide (NO). Under ordinary circumstances hemodilation lasts only briefly. With the creation of NO2, however, and the sustained NO levels it generates in the skeletal muscle, "sustained hemodilation" became a reality. The word hemodilation, as applied to NO2, means "sustained hemodilation."

"What I started with creatine, I perfected with NO2."

How does NO2's "hemodilation" compare to creatine's "cell-volumization?"

Because Ed Byrd introduced both creatine and NO2, he says it best...

"As you probably know, creatine causes 'cell-volumizing' by pulling water into the small space 'inside' the muscle cell. It does increase size, but you may look a little 'puffy.' NO2's hemodilation, on the other hand, creates genuine size by forcing blood into the vast and voluminous spaces 'between' the muscle cells. Not 'inside' the cells. This 'super-engorging' creates massive pumps. What's more, because the blood is between the cells not inside them, the pump is rock-hard. Not 'puffy.'

And with the extended-release delivery system pHyser3, the pump does not go away. You get what's known as a 'perpetual pump.'

Frankly, my recommendation to bodybuilders would be to take both creatine and NO2. I look at it this way, what I started with creatine, I perfected with NO2."

Thanks bro, that's Ornithine AKG,this other sheit is Arginine AKG(trade name NO2) but their actions seem very similar.

check getno2.com   I think it's like 70$retail,I got my 1st bottle comp't free from a supplement industry friend,I think you can pick it up for around 52-53$,I'll check and see if I can find the site that had it in the low 50's for you.

Have been using it for 3 weeks at the bottle dosage. Nothing. Have raised the dosage to 8 per day. Still nothing. Waste of money.
