Serono Statement Regarding Counterfeit Serostim®
Norwell, MA (SafetyAlerts) - Serono, Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is informing patients, physicians and distributing pharmacies about a counterfeit version of Serono’s Serostim® 6mg [somatropin (rDNA origin) for injection]. Serostim® is approved for the treatment of AIDS wasting.

Unlike genuine Serostim® 6mg, the counterfeit product is of unknown safety and efficacy and may pose a health risk to patients. The counterfeit product, which is definitely not Serostim® , was neither manufactured nor distributed by Serono.

Serono recently became aware of the existence of the counterfeit drug. Serono has issued a "Notification of Potential Counterfeit Product" to wholesalers, pharmacists, physicians and AIDS service organizations to alert them, in an effort to prevent patients currently undergoing Serostim® therapy from receiving the counterfeit product. The counterfeit product has been packaged to appear as drug product lot number MNK612A and is readily distinguishable from authentic Serostim® by the following features:

Features of Counterfeit lot #MNK612A
7-Pack Box:

Expiration Date: "08/02"
A separate dark blue label is affixed to one end of the carton. The lot number and expiration date are printed on the label in white lettering.

Features of Authentic lot #MNK612A

Expiration Date: "08/01"
A dark blue box is printed directly on one end of the carton. The lot number and expiration date are printed on the dark blue box in white lettering. (There is no label affixed to the carton.)

Counterfeit lot

Serostim® Vial:

Contains white, powdery "snow-like" substance and is sometimes stuck to the stopper.

Authentic lot

Expiration Date: "08/01"

Product is white lyophilized "cake", approximately 1/8" thick at the bottom of the vial.

Counterfeit lot

Diluent Vial:

Expiration Date: "08/02"

Authentic lot

FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations is actively investigating this matter. Serono is cooperating fully with federal authorities to stop the distribution of the counterfeit product and to prosecute those responsible for it

Just seeing what your thoughts were on this. It seems by buddy has recieved on of these conterfiets and has broken out in a rash and has severe stomach pains. I don't know much about HGH, but that seems to me that it would mean that its dirty. What are your thoughts?

Also, if you take a home pregnancy test that should determine if you HGH is legit....correct?

Would three days of taking HGH be long enough for the test to show up positve?

Does anyone know how long this "counterfeit" products needs to be in your system in order to show up positive.

I'll be the first to admit my ignorance when discussing HGH, this is why haven't been taking it, but I have been asking questions, to try and educate my non-understanding dumb-ass.

gearedup...please explain, the test won't show up positive because it isn't fake, then if I go and take the pregnancy test, and it shows up negative I can assume that I am on HGH when I have never even injected it once. I'm not grasping the concept, please elaborate.

huh? I am a little confused probably because I am pretty tired! Not sure about the test but the kits are real if you got them from a good source!

Does anyone know more details on taking the pregnancy test? Chemical Evolution...anything???

I would think the only way it work is if it came back positive (that you're pregnant) if you were on HGH. Does anyone know details to these tests...or has anyone had personal experiences with these test?

That is my assumption...its just a test to see if the counterfeit is HCG, which most fakes and conterfeiters will use because it is much cheaper, and maybe yeild some mild results.

Is taking your HGH to a chemist the only way of testing to see if it is the real deal or not, and to find out what the product really contains?

Pretty much, if you want to know EXACTLY what it is youll have to send one to be tested.
