for those with cramps

I posted earlier I had got severe cramps frrm T3. I stopped T3 and started drinking real big amounts of water and upped my potassium. But alas, I'm still having cramps. Why? Magnesium.

It was so rediculously low I now have to get intravenous loadings with the stuff. (Might ask if they would slip in some test at the same time hehe).

Anyway don't just follow that 'drink boatloads of water' crap just like that. As Bstrong said, you will flush out all your electrolytes, so make very sure you put them back in.

Two side notes:
1) never have blood test taken for electro-thingies. 95% of the body's total for them is within the muscle cell, not in the blood. Blood might seem fine while you are still short. Do a 24 hour urine collection to check electrolyte balanses.
2) Never take Magnesium with calcium. They fight for the same recepter and calcium binds beter so al the magnesium will be peed out. Have your Mg on an empty stomach far away for Ca.

Boring I know, but just sharing the info.

This is a personal choice. I don't like taking supplements like zinc and iron for extended periods unless you are 100 % sure your defecient.

As with many of the minerals, too much can cause more side effects than having too less. For things such as Mg, K, Ca, Na... this rarely occurs since it's rapidly peed out (if you drink enough). But Iron and Zinc can build up rapidly however. I have an article on this somewhere, but can't seem to find it no more.

Again, it's a personal choice. I'm well aware many of ya are very happy with there ZMA supplements, but I prefer only to take zinc when I know I'm lacking it.
