...but i'll give you a bump...all i know is that a certain "location"(shoulder, knee, etc) can only handle so much in a given period of time...but if you are looking for a quick fix i believe you will be ok...i always thought it was a mask tho...dont quote me on half this shit tho...lol...

I'VE HAD IT DONE TWICE. FOR ME IT ONLY MASKS THE PAIN FOR A WHILE.IN MY CASE THE PROBLEM WAS MY ROTATOR CUFF. I HAD TO DO EXERCISES TO STRENTHEN THE ROTAOR CUFF, PAIN FREE HELPED ALOT TOO. IT'S A GLUCOSAMINE CHONDRITIN SULFATE FORMULA.

Cortisone shots help specific problems in joints, not just mask them. Its an anti-inflammatory, hella stronger than your OTC advil/asprin. Locallized injections will stop the recruitment of more inflammatory cells and also stop their release of inflammatory mediators. Since these mediators are what make you feel pain, yes they make the hurt go away. But progressive inflammation is also detrimental and can slow healing. If the damage to the joint is minor, the cortisone shot is a great way to speed up recovery. If its major, the masking of the pain will make you think everything is hunky dory but meanwhile, youve torn the shit out of a ligament or perforated a cartilage and the bones in your joints are going to feel some serious damage the next time you seriously load them.
Also, remember that cortisol will have many of the characteristics of hormones (like test). Prolonged systemic use will cause bloating and depress your immune system.
Dont think about shooting it yourself because something hurts. Get the joint checked out by a doc

No prob. I had a funny feeling someone might try to do the cortisone injection themselves. Shit look at all the other crap we do. So I just threw that part in.
Good luck

Holy cow, so many old posts...It's always good to bring up old posts (though perhaps in moderation, lol) because we only learn by drilling it into our heads over and over again. Now if we could get that many new posts, that would be cool.

well sometimes newbies don't always know how to ask newbie questions..

yeah old posts might be overkill but sometimes even the simple things might bring people to post who normally wouldn't... if it's lame though i'd expect someone to tell me..

hell yeah, cortisone is a great temporary pain reliever, but it is only temporary and isn't a long term method of pain releif, i can vouche for its super effect on pain relief but it when its gone it sucks ass.....i have had it done on my knee twice and it worked wonders.

I have gotten these injections for a pinched nerve in my lower back (deads have cured this problem). Researchers have looked at this and examined one group of folks who were given shots and a control group who were not. Short term, the shots rock. A year later, the folks who did not get the shots were doing better.

I wouldn't take the shots now unless I really needed them to function and I love drugs for most things. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.
