How do you rest? Currently I usually rest for two consecutive days (Sat&Sun or Sun&Mon), but sometimes split them (thur&sun). I'm wanting opinions/facts on whether it is more beneficial to split your rest days or keep them consecutive. If either way has superior effects.

I split my rest days. I just can't go two straight days off of the gym

I don't think splitting rest days will make that much difference. I wouldn't work out with weights on consecutive days however. After weight training days I always have one day of. Although I sometimes do cardio on those days.

...i dont think it matters at all...if your body is "ready" to workout again then you are ok...it depends on "you" only and how your body feels...but i do think you should completely rest at least two full days out of seven for optimal recovery...

I normally just listen to my body to determine when I rest, but was curious if any facts out there supported one way or the other.

Thanks guys.

There is no right or wrong answer here. It all depends on how well you recover and what your training regime looks like. I try to put a three day span (on of those being a rest day) between Quads and Hams because my legs need more time to recouperate but everones different.

my .02 cents is change it up every month or 2. Right now I take Sat and Sun off and have been for a month, after one more month I'll switch up to Mon, Wed, Fri with possibly cardio on Tues and Wed with Sat and SUn off. The body gets used to whatever you are doing after a while which is one of the reasons we plateau.

So my opinion is change it up from time to time.
