Hey all, I just got some cheap plastic fat calipers in the mail today.. but they don't really come with any good instructions??

Anyone know of a link to somewhere that gives good information on how to use them?

Thanks,

KC

I believe your suppose to take your measurements 3 times and get an average of them!! It's not exact but kinda close :)

Man I just looked up how to use the regular calipers.

I'm sure glad I got the digital ones!

Hey Big Guns. I have that same exact calliper. Do you really get accurate measurements? How do you use yours?

I always do three reading and get an average. I guess they are pretty accurate but who knows? It is hard to figure out how much skin to pull up and with mine I close the caliper slowly until both sides hit skin and then I press the blue button, otherwise I notice that the blue button clicks before both sides hit skin. How about you?

!DOH! you guys are KILLING ME!!!

I just asked in another thread about fat calipers vs. the scales, and which calipers were the best.

Everyone said the scales sucked, and that I should get the cheapy plastic calipers that those gave the best readings..

I'm so confused!

Ha ha. oh well. I'll figure it all out on Tuesday when I get the underwater test done!

Big Guns: That's how I do it to. I take three readings at every site and take the average. Then I take the average reading from all the sites and take that average and that's my BF%.

8 spots are for women. Three spots are:

Chest Diagonal Fold is taken 1/2 the distance between the anterior auxiliary line and nipple.
Abdominal Vertical Fold is taken vertical 2 cm lateral to the umbilicus.
Thigh Vertical Fold is lifted on anterior aspect of thigh midway between inguinal crease and proximal border of patella. Body weight is shifted to left foot.

Tips on Measuring
Take all measurements on the right side of your body
Carefully identify and recall your measuring site for accuracy
Take the measurement when skin is dry and lotion-free
Do not measure immediately after exercise due to shifts in body fluid

And also the inguinal crease, and proximal border of patella?
