ALL PLEASE READ - BEWARE OF SCAMMING BOARDS

It's a sad truth, but everyone should know that scammers set up their own boards, establish a user base, and then back a source that either IS or TURNS INTO a scammer.
It happened not so long ago with a couple of boards, a lot of us heard the saga. Here's a new one that seems to be emerging:
We'll call it "Board X"
- Recently, someone asked about a very good and honest source for computer parts via a wide-open source check forum at Board X.
- This person gave the email of that source to the mods at Board X.
- Very soon thereafter, the source's email provider was notified of his activities and his email was shut down.
- At the same time, the source and all of his references received a FAKE email, supposedly containing evidence that the DEA was onto this source and after all of his references. This email has been verified A HOAX.
- Meanwhile, back at the source check thread, the owner of Board X called the source a scammer.
- The source attempted to join the board in order to defend himself but was denied access by the owner.
- In going through the open source check forum, I noticed that the owner of the board had negative comments about guys I know are legit, and also that he highly backs a new guy, some guy I've never heard of.
- All this smells funny to me - i would bet that someone connected to that board, maybe even the owner, is attempting to hurt the business of legit computer parts dealers and turn people to his soon-to-be-scamming new guy.

So PLEASE:
1. DO NOT reveal source emails or even source names on boards with open source check forums. These forums are UNSAFE for us all!
2. But please DO your source checks, just do it at a trustworthy board where there are trustworthy vets and mods (like, ahem, this one).
3. Vets and mods, please feel free to edit if I have said too much, or to add any helpful hints.
4. I hate scammers, and they're everywhere lately. Don't trust anyone, not even if they own a board.

I feel you on that 46. I think there is one just waiting to become a scammer but I keep that shit to myself. If your smart you know who I mean.

I don't have any proof, Presser. I don't know how to do those nifty computer IP-tracing things that track down and prove the culprit.

i second that ...i am a member at a few boards some i visit more than others and its hard to follow whats happing sometime ..others may have info to add if they knew what board ...

Ugh. I've got to vent this out.
Some really fucked up shit has been going on and it's very apparent I'm getting screwed over bad by a couple mods or more from another board. I'm going to hold off on the details under the circumstances because I've really been working to cooperate with the mods' requests of privacy and work to settle this shit straight. I've been cooroperative (despite my issues of trust with the mod in question) and totally legit and open with them and I believe they are taking advantage of that and fucking me over, despite it all. AAAAH. I don't know what to do. I want to protect myself from this, and maybe others who could end up screwed over, but I don't know how. I've been fucked over and wrongly so. And because I was trying to protect myself, they are going hog wild on me and have made threats against me. They haven't done anything signifficant to resolve the problems, and have been doing really strange shit. I feel I should just give up and let it be known so I can get help from real bro's who look out for each other.

I just don't know how or what to do, or who to trust. This really sucks. This board gave me the best feeling of trust amongst all the ones I've been on, so I guess that's why I vented here... So I can have a better feeling of security with legit bro's.

Really, I don't want to post the name of the board, but it sounds like a lot of you know anyway. If anyone's really curious, PM me. Honestly, these guys seem like such asses that I can see them really going out of their way to make my life hell should I be the person to call them out, call me a pussy or whatever.

Shears- your feeling about this board is correct. Good peoples around here. And the mods are good at sniffing out bullshit.
