Squat Racks

Where can I buy a cheap squat rack? I saw somewhere online before, that sells racks and equipment pretty cheap, but I can't remember the site. Our Play It Again Sports in town is so high it is usually cheaper to go buy it new at Oshmans.

I am also thinking about making one, my dad has all kinds of wielding equipment in the auto garage he owns, I'm sure he might could do it.

I've thought about a Smith Machine, but have never used one before. I have heard they are not as effective, because they restrict the range of motion.

This is for home so I won't have a spotter, would a Smith be the way to go?

A smith is not meant to take the place of free weight barbell, But there are times when your going heavy by yourself when it's needed..

When heavy benching and you can't get that last rep up enought to lock out and rack the bar.. What do you do...

Dumping plates from one side and then the other to get the bar off your chest, is not only very dangerous.. I can put a hurting on you quick!

I guess what I have mainly been concerned about is some kind of safety feature, so if I am not going to make that last rep I can set it down on some kind of bar.

Would a smith machine be better, or a squat rack with a safety bar?

i like smith machine for behind the neck presses, thats about it. i usually have a spotter though, so that might be why i dont squat on one

I prefer the squat rack for overall versatility and safety. I do not personally like smith machines but allot of very big bro's use them so they must work for them.

I have a Yukon rack. I think it's rated for 800lbs and has a chining bar on the top. I think that it was well worth the cash.

The fittness factory carries bodysolid equipment. I have some of their stuff. It's OK but if you are going to put allot of weigh on it I don't think I t will last as long as some of the midrage stuff.

New york Barbell has some sturdy Equipment. Some of the really cheap stuff is made in china but theri mid and higher end stuff is pretty solid.
