I stole this from another board a long time ago...just looking for opinions...never used insulin before but this seems easy enough....
Insulin for Dummies..by Big dawg:
The Materials.
Here is what you will need to be sucessful in you venture with insulin.
1. A bottle of humulin R insulin. Get this kind for your first try, you can move up to humilog later once your more experienced.
2. insulin needles.. get the 29 gauge 1/2 inchers.. easy to use!
3. a bottle of twinlab ultrafuel , or an american bodybuilding Carbo force. you can buy these at gyms, gnc, and grocery stores!
4. a good protein shake.. for this purpose we want at least 50 grams of protein and only a little carbs in this shake.
What to do. follow this step by step and you will not go wrong.
1. work out
2. right after workout , in the gym drink the carbo force or ultra fuel.
3. go home.
4. take 10 IU's of humulin R into a fatty area on your stomach or leg. not an intermuscular inject!
5. drink your protein shake.
THAT IS IT! how hard was that?? not very hard when its broken down like that. after the shot, make sure to have a meal in 1 1/2 hours with low fat and a good amount of carbs and protein. this method is safe to do at night as well. sometimes i do it like this and just go to sleep, without even a meal after the protein and carb drink! you are getting 10 carbs per IU of insulin, so the ratio is good to keep you stable. I would recommend you try this after training and see what it does for you. yes, you can take it more often but then you run the risk of getting fat and lowering your insulin sensitivity. Do you HAVE to use the drinks i mentioned here? no, but they make it SUPER easy to do. it is best to take the carbs in on a headstart to the insulin so thats why i said to take the drink in the gym. if anyone has questions, feel free to ask . happy growing!
