Aromasin

Exemestane, commonly sold under the trade name Aromasin is a suicidal Aromatase Inhibitor (AI) designed to fight breast cancer in post menopausal women. This is an extremely aggressive medication for this purpose, and is generally only used when Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators (SERM's) fail to provide a remedy. Of the popular AI's, such as Arimidex and Letrozole, Aromasin is the only one that is officially known as a steroidal AI, as its natural structure is closely tied to androstenedione. By its nature, it binds to the aromatase enzyme in an irreversible manner thereby preventing the enzyme's natural course of action. As you may have guessed, this can be tremendously beneficial to a performance enhancing athlete, as many anabolic steroid related side effects are of an estrogenic nature caused by the aromatase enzyme.

Aromasin & Estrogenic Effects:

When we supplement with anabolic steroids, often there is a testosterone conversion into estrogen that occurs with the use of certain steroids. As this conversion occurs through the aromatase process, estrogen builds up in the body and can lead to many unwanted side effects or adverse reactions. By design, with supplemental use of Aromasin, this aromatase process is inhibited, hence the name "AI." Commonly used anabolic steroids that can aromatize include Testosterone, Nandrolone, Methandrostenolone, etc. As Aromasin prevents the aromatase process from occurring, it further promotes a positive anti-estrogen reaction by reducing the total amount of estrogen in the body by way of a binding action. No, it will not reduce the total amount of estrogen in the body at the rate of Letrozole or anywhere near the rate of Cytodren, but it will make a large enough difference to afford protection. At any rate, with the inhibited state of aromatase and the reduction of total estrogen in the body, what does not exist cannot become problematic.

Aromasin & Testosterone:

Aromasin, like all AI's, has been shown to significantly promote the production of natural testosterone. This is largely due to its slight yet potent androgenic nature. Further, while increasing natural testosterone production, it will at the same time increase the natural production of the powerful anabolic peptide hormone IGF-1; Aromasin is the only AI that can boast such a claim. For these reasons, many choose to supplement with Aromasin during the Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) process, and as such is the only AI we could ever recommend for this purpose.

On Cycle vs. PCT:

Without a doubt, in fact, it's hard to argue against, the best time to supplement with Aromasin is during on cycle use. First and foremost, combating and preventing anabolic steroid related side effects is a legitimate cause, and with proper protection, such side-effects can largely be avoided, assuming use is of a responsible nature and by a healthy adult male. Further, Aromasin is very effective for this purpose, and it is definitely worth a try to meet this end. As for PCT use, while it is the only AI that many recommend, some still stand by SERM's being the best course of action. SERM's simply provide a means to reach a level of normalization that no AI can provide, and this is an essential part of proper PCT planning.
