NO, MACROS ARE NOT INTERCHANGABLE! A CALORIE IS NOT A CALORIE IN A DYNAMIC SYSTEM.

This is a very short-sighted outlook that seemed to have come in tandem with the "just hit your macros" wave. We have individuals that are extremely loose with their macros, and their only goal is to hit X caloric intake a day. Because caloric energy is static, right? So 250g protein 250g carbs one day is the same as 300g proteins and 200g carbs, correct?

Absolutely not.

When we measure caloric... energy, we do it outside of the dynamics of the human body. A Calorie (kcal) is the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 kilogram of water 1 degree Celsius. That says NOTHING about how they respond in a dynamic system. It says nothing about the effects of ghrelin/leptin with carbohydrates, it says nothing about the higher propensity (well ease of) for fat to be stored despite its static caloric energy, it says nothing about the arduous process involved in storing protein as fat, it says nothing about the varying genetic prospensities for individual oxidation for various macronutrients, etc. etc. etc.

For an individual that wants to lose a couple pounds, sure. However, if you're someone that wants to have a serious physique, remember that the properties of macronutrients change in the human body.
