Of all the subjects discussed on MC, here's one that I haven't been able to find a thread on: hemorrhoids. For those who may not know, a hemorrhoid is a swollen/inflamed vein either on the anus or inside the rectum. About 30% of the population gets them, and apparently that percentage is MUCH higher in the weight-lifting community, so I'd be willing to bet more than a few members here are dealing with this same issue. For the past few years, I have been dealing with internal hemorrhoids that basically take all the fun out of my morning dump. At first, it was just a little soreness after having a bowel movement, but over the years has progressed into a more extreme soreness that sometimes lasts nearly the entire day. Needless to say, this makes lifting that much more difficult, mainly when training legs. I finally decided to see a doctor about it, which turned into another doctor, then a specialist. They all had the same initial reaction as soon as they saw me: how often do you lift weights? Everyone I saw about this wanted me to take it easy on the heavy lifting, but of course when you have a passion, that's hardly an option. After doing more research, it seems that while intense exercise can exacerbate the situation, lifting weights in and of itself does not permanently make the problem worse.

I'm finally having surgery on them next week in what's supposed to be a less invasive operation (as opposed to cutting them out completely) that involves stapling the veins in question to choke off the blood supply, which will allow them to heal naturally. I'm very much looking forward to being able to shit like a normal human being, but less excited about the 4-6 weeks my surgeon wants me to take off training. After that, I just need to continue a high fiber diet (with fiber supplementation) and really focus on my breathing during heavy lifting.

If anyone has been through this and has any advice, I'd like to hear from you.

I had anal fissures many yrs ago, small cracks in the ol back door similiar to cracks on yr fingers in winter weather. Painful as hell, they went away on thier own. I did take a massive hard dump a while back and presto had a hemorrhoid. Can you just press it back? I tried but got grossed out. It since has almost gone away.

Good luck Bro, let us know how things come out (oh that was bad)

Yup I have internal but every once in a while I get one poking out. Missed work a few times because of it. Eating fiber helps, dont overexert when you dump and get off the bowl quickly. Drink lots of water.

Thanks for the replies, brothers. I've also got the fissures that occur - so damn painful! I've pushed them in a couple times, but I also get way grossed out even though I've usually got a strong stomach. I'm definitely adding more water and fiber into my diet and I'm training myself to be quicker (no more cruising MC on the can). This is the second time in a row I've had to put off a winter cycle, except this time I'm going to have to take 4-6 weeks off which is honestly the most depressing part. I'll let yall know how it goes...

We're in same boat, so we are NOT perfect assholes!!

Can you voluntarily pull in your rectum through muscle control? Can you control your pelvic floor muscles? In my opinion it is the first thing heavy lifters should learn to do. Sounds weird , but martial artists have known for a thousand years that power leaks that way as well as your organs.

That's actually a very interesting proposition and something I definitely haven't done enough research on. It's very likely that I haven't learned to control my pelvic floor muscles properly, especially seeing as how squats get uncomfortable for me if I try to break parallel. Thanks for the thought, this forum is the fucking best!

If i take orals they cause hemorrhoids.
Bile backed up puts pressure on blood vessels from gall bladder and Liver and they bulge out our ass causing hemorrhoids.
Take liver flush do colon flush lay off orals.
Dr's don't study what we doing with steroids not the ones we see anyway.
But I do and have, it is harmful so I am out of my denial and instead found the consequences possible and use my gear and orals but do it in ways that cause least harm and give recover time. I have proven enough to myself for example I only get hemorrhoids during oral or after. And know others who do too. I researched liver connection to hemorrhoids and it's what I said above.
Also tounge and nails can help u read other signs of the cause.

Water retention also can cause hemorrhoids

Well the surgery went great and I'm back at work. The day of my surgery I felt amazing afterward, like nothing had even been done. Of course I was too high to realize it was the pain meds and I woke up at 4am to the feeling of reality. That day after was miserable, mostly because I was extremely bloated in my lower abdomen and could hardly get myself to pee. I'm guessing they blew air up my ass to open everything up because my stomach felt like a semi truck tire. Anyway, things were much better within a few days and I'm already feeling better than before the surgery so if any of you are battling this issue often and are considering having the surgery, my advice would be to get it done and over with if you can.Now to figure out what to do with myself for the next few weeks until I'm allowed to return to lifting. I know I'll feel a lot better as soon as I place that order for MC igf1-lr3 which I'm hoping will help to get me back on track quicker.

Very glad your surgery went well and I can guarantee the igf will get you back to buisness as usual
