One of the things that seems to be lost or confused in the minds of most that train is that you can still have very effective workouts without getting a pump. There are other very valid and measurable training variables that I consider much more important that you can assess to actually tell how training is going. Dont be so quick to write off training by your pump or lack there of.

On another note a "pump" is in direct correlation with a bodies ability to partition nutrients. If you are not getting a pump chances are your body fat levels are to high or have increased which decreases nutrient partitioning.

I use to worry about that when i was first starting out, and if i didnt get a great pump i felt the workout was shit, and if i didnt get sore a couple days later i felt the same way lol,,

Now the soreness i can do without anyhow so fuck being sore lol

However, the PUMP, now that i crave! Its better than sex, its like cumming lmao pretty sure thats close to what Arnold said loll,

Honestly though, theres nothing like a great full mind blowing pump, I think thats the addciting part of workoing out, seeing yourself in the mirror pumped beyond belief , which makes you wanna keep coming back and try getting bigger to the point you look like that without the pump, but then you get there, however now your pump is twice what it was before, so now you wanna train harder until you get to that pumped size, without being pumped, and then you get there, but at that size, your gym pump is even bigger yet, and well you get the picture!!!

I fucking love the way i look and feel pumped

This is what I keep telling my friends who don't know how I stay motivated. Once you get to the point that your muscles are visible and can actually see/feel the pump at the gym, you WILL be back, again and again and again.

Another good thing about the pump, is you can actually start to feel the individual muscles working, and you can focus more on a particular muscle group. When I was starting out, many moons ago, everything just hurt and my body was changing. But now, at a more advanced level, I can target a particular muscle and actually feel if I'm doing it right or not. Not to mention you can see what muscles are working and when they are working.

The one area that I have never been able to get a good pump is my back. If I go heavy, I can exhaust myself and leave covered with sweat but no pump. I can go lighter and do high volume and might get a slight pump. My back has gotten thicker but it is just that one area that I have not been able to get a pump no matter what I do. The next day however, I am so sore I cannot reach to wipe my ass. I do, that would be gross, but you get the point.

Stretch between every set, and squeeze the muscle and hold it for a count. You will get your pump.

It's experience in contracting the muscles that gives good pump.
I get biggest pump at my gym. If only I stayed that way. Lol

Just like Beast says hold it. But don't think about holding it think about pulling it and sqeezing your muscles contract like a flex but during that position

Hey drtbear a guy told me once to quit thinking about moving the weight and quit thinking about moving your arms focus on moving your scapulas. It worked for me when I first started doing it I was like this guy is full of shit but I stuck with it and found myself being sore in different places than I had been and eventually I was in control of my back.

Another thing I notice in training my own back is I start with narrow grip I Get warmed up good then once I feel it back there i start going wider and wider. I catch pump in back too. Muscles in back and rear shoulders stick up thru shirt. Lol

Thanks guys, I do stretch between sets but will focus on the scapula movement. I actually do most of everything one handed so I can isolate each side. I am sore today that is for sure.

Yesterday I did 2x10 pull-ups warmup.
Then smith bend over rows 4x6-8
Superset with back seated back extensions machine 4×8

Lat pulldown wide grip and held in sec for thar contraction with bar below chin.4×8 Superset seated preacher curl machine. 6x10 then abs on incline with 25lb weight on chest. 5×15-10-8
Then went to cable rows 3x12
Back and arms were blaring 30 minutes so not much rest

I do a lot of supersetting. I am thinking about trying some giant setting using 3-4 movements.
I do them alot too. Almost like a circuit. I switched to rest but I am getting back into that mode of one to the other three or four burst exercises then back to first

Volume volume volume for back. I kind of feel like you have to wear it out to start to feel the individual muscles work. Cause their is so much strength there. It gets wore down then maybe a muscle that wasn't doing its share has to ma take up the slack for a muscle that was doing all the work in the beginning.

Wife was sick last night so I will have to play catch up tonight and do shoulders and arms. I have never had much success with the pump products out there. Most of them give me the bubble guts so I spend more time in the can than working out. What about you guys?
