"Balance:"

One of the most common follies of underachievers, is not acknowledging that achieving takes sacrifice.
Now there's asinine ways to do things; there's paralysis by analysis, OCD tendencies and generating much more sacrifices than is needed. But if you want to succeed at ANYTHING in life--yes anything--you will give up something somewhere else. Time, money, potentially health, etc. And the higher your goal of success typically correlates with the degree of sacrifice... needed.

What balance is, is working life around those sacrifices for what needs to be made. What it is not, is trying to shoe-horn the goal into "regular" life. Balance is being aware of the sacrifices and living your life as you can around those sacrifices that are intrinsic in the level of goal you choose and your personal path.
Here's the truth: If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch. I don't care if it's work, bodybuilding, shit a relationship--if you say you want something great be prepared to do what's needed to validate that.
