Happiness and Marriage

Men and women usually gain fat after they get married. That's what several scientific studies and people who have eyeballs have noticed. Researchers involved in a 4-year study of 169 newlyweds even said this may be a sign of a GOOD marriage, though obviously bad for health. Their logic works like this: A couple gets hitched, then...
-
HAPPY spouses gain a little weight, sometimes a lot. This, according to the study, is because they have a satisfying marriage and aren't planning on getting divorced. Secure in their blissful marriage, they inadvertently gain some weight because they aren't planning to be on Tinder any time soon.
-
UNHAPPY spouses are less likely to gain weight. Why? The researchers said that unhappy spouses keep themselves fit because they're "motivated to attract an alternative mate.”
-
WAIT, WTF? Yeah, I know. As one-half of a fit couple, I bristled a bit at these conclusions. But the research here is only pointing out a trend based on the general population, not we sexy lifters. But the weight-gain trend is real across a wider population. Also, we could theorize that people who are already into fitness tend to marry people that are also into fitness. That couple is more likely to stay lean.
-
Here's what we can take from this: Don't allow your awesome marriage to make you complacent. Your waist measurements and resultant health don't give a shit if you're happy. There are of course many reasons to keep the fat off besides the prospect of "alternate mate selection.” #tnation #fitfam

Very much true. My lovely wife has put on a few this year (our first year) but I’ll say that we are perfectly happy together. I don’t push or prey but only suggest that e heathy lifestyle is the only key to living a long and great within a relationship.

That and I went the hell off last weekend when I came home to three boxes of girl Scout cookies. I’m weak. I ate two boxes and now they are mad at me....Mr. Healthy they guy who ate all the damn cookies. I love cookies. I told them it’s their fault, I have a cookie problem and they tempted me.

back when i was natty, i gained weight slowly and always after i tried to quit smoking, until i finally quit completely now for six years. i know, it doesn't make sense to smoke, when i worked out religiously. ate right, did most everything else for a healthy lifestyle. you know though, young and dumb and i got hooked on them early in life, with help from my brother, lol.
anyways when i did finally quit i also had the onset of low-t. so needless to say the fat really hit me. especially in the mid section. my wife still stayed with me though. maybe we've just been married so long, she just didn't give a shit anymore, lol. not that she didn't put on a couple pounds.
i must say though that starting trt has improved my life as well as my relationship, so either the study is more wrong or we are an exception. but then i tell my wife frequently that i'm a different kind of monster, lol. i also say we're too stubborn to give up on each other.

All my girlfriends started working out when they got to know me, stopped when we got together. They always gain about 10kg within 1 year.
All my relationships always goes to shit.

Same with me until I met the one I wanted to marry. But I had a damn good Single run. 38 years I was running wild. Lol

been with my wife over 18 years, and she doesn’t look like she did when I met her and especially after having twins 4 years ago. Article makes sense to me.

17 years of marriage. a few kids. wife went from very slender to a bit out of shape. she is working hard to recover. i went from heavy drinking - out of shape dad bod - to now a decent shape. a happy home where the kitchen smells of yummy food, kids running around merrily and a warm bed for the night. its more important for guys to be in shape because we are the 'active' participant during love making. should never lose our mojo.

IMO, the three rings of marriage are, first the engagement ring, then the wedding ring then comes the suffering
I like drama free living but I'm happy as hell for those who can make it work

This takes other factors out tough such as stress and genetic makeup. I would say that males and females gain the extra weight for different reasons.

not so sure i'd agree with men being the more active, i think it's more a matter of position. lol.

@pgb, men have to get something UP AND IN for the act. women receive it. active only in this sense not the sex position ha ha ha ha lmao.
