Lifting belts

So I know I’ve spoken about my recent back issues. And wanted to know y’all thoughts on lifting belts to help alleviate the issues.

I’ve videoed my deads and can see I blend in the back where it shouldn’t. (Should have saved the vid) and I believe it’s the root of my issues. I’ve always preferred slower lifts with less weights to put emphasis on controlling the lift and focusing on the contractions of the actual muscle as opposed to just trying to hit numbers. But apparently after repeated efforts I’m stuff screwing up my deads. So I was thinking that a belt would help me feel the back remaining Straight during the lift thus breaking me of my bad habits.

You’re thoughts?

A good belt you prefer?

I always wore a good Muscle Media branded cardillo leather belt, wore it for years until I out grew lol, and then stopped using one for the last half of my training years. I think theyre important for beginners and those with back issues. For those without back issues, I think theyre good to get a feel for form, so when you take it off, you know the proper motion without it.

But for back issues, or folks with already present back issues, I say wear it.

Problem is too many get use to wearing it, and of course then they start wearing it for bench press, and then bicep curls etc... lol

Personally however, I think a firm wide leather belt is better than those ones guys use in the gym that seem to be all fabric like. But in truth I havent tried those on.

I’ve been looking at some leather ones. 4 inch. I believe the 10mm is fine but your right. I want it firm so I can feel the stiffness when I break form. And only for deads, squats.

4 inch leather belt, I wear it 95% of the day when working at the gym even when I'm not lifting, as I spot people once in a while besides it looks old school as hell :)
