Edamame good or Bad?

I was wondering if any of the bodybuilders here know if Edamame is a good protein to eat. By my understanding its a soy protein.

Some theories I have heard on this are that they increase your Estrogen levels and rob you of Testosterone.

But they have a high protein intake, low fat, high fiber, and I thought they would be a great substitute of peanuts. Plus they taste awesome! any input would be appreciated. thanks!!
 
ok great. So i eat half a cup of these a day, but that only accounts for maybe 20 grams of protein a day, and I am taking about 150-200 grams. so 10-15% of my protein is coming from soy. I really like them because 1/2 a cup is 16 grams of fiber, and only 2g of sugar.
 
I wrote in another thread (can't remember which one or I'd link it up) that I read in M&F a couple months ago that they proved that soy doesn't actually increase estrogen levels so guys need not be concerned with that...

I've never actually tried edamame. How do you cook them?
 
Yah the studies have been made I think as minimum of 3 years ago , that the isoflavones in the soy actually doesnt affect estrogen , if any a positive result for guys , while giving the estrogen benefits for women
 
Edamame is good for you. It's more for fiber than for protein so I wouldn't be worried about estrogenic effects.

I eat alot of it, but I don't count it as protein from a meal. I really only count meat sources. I treat it like a vegetable to snack on
