personal trainers being steroid tested?

Do you guys think personal trainers and thoe claiming to be fitness trainers be tested for steroids?

Im asking because I currently work for a place where its random and we get tested for steroids. It works like this: they pull your name randomly every year and if you pass then they reimburse you for for the co pay (which is $125) If you fail you pay the full price which is around 400$ and either lose your job or get suspension for 30-90 days unpaid.

Im currently working at the Olympic training center so its understood why this is in place, however I went to Villasport to work out and the trainers there told me they get drug tested to start the job there and get random testing for roids. i guess nobody wants muscular people telling them they can grow by eating right and working hard when they used steroids to get where they are. (direct quote from this personal trainer)
This is a regular gym or more like a country club but do you guys think testing personal trainers or fitness class instructors is worthwhile?

Im curious because It doesnt seem like this should be in place especially for personal trainers and fitness instructors. Opinions?

If regular employers can put regular drug testing in place, then there's no reason they can't put in steroid testing. It all comes down to the freedom employers have to do such a thing, never mind the ethics.

In normal work environments, I cannot see doing AS testing- it is too cost prohibitive.
I also worked for chain gyms, and I can't see them doing it either because its about sales, profit and controlling budgets.
FBI, government, Olympics- different story.

I can see why you'd ask this, but at the end of the day, it's all about making a sale. For the gym, for the trainer and for the client. As a personal trainer, I understand how important it is to look good in order to draw a client from someone else. Not only does looking good (whether it be natural or AAS induced) help build confidence with your client, but it lets them know that you actually use what you're preaching. I mean, honestly, if you were looking for a personal trainer would you choose a 115 pound guy who knows only what he's learned from a book or someone who's 220 and looks as though they've put their time in at a gym?

Bro i definatly feel ya on this one! HOWEVER ...LOL...I see and hear alot of people wanting the scrawny trainer these days because lay people believe that the big muscle bound guy doesnt know shit about exercie, diet, nutrition ect because they all think that steroids are a mgical pill and you automaticly get big when taking them , and dont need to workout hard, and know the ins and outs of exercise and diet ect...

sad but true in some cases

Yeah I agree..since all that dumb MLB shit went down anyone with any kind of muscle is automatically a "juicer"...

Yep all the pencil pushing reporters who were always picked last in gym class if picked at all have all grown up now and are getting even through the media!

I guess it's all applicable to your location, but then again, I'm not a huge person so I guess I can't relate to some of you lol. I get a lot of clients based on a certain look and the fact that I typically train where I work so that I can be seen by future clients and be able to interact with them. But the media has certainly put a huge shadow over "juicers" and people that look like they juice.

hey bro do u work for yourself or do you have to pay the club a certain fee to work out of there? I know about 10 years ago 3 guys all worked out of the same gym i was at and they didnt have to pay the gym shit and they all made boat loads of cash and each of them went on to pen up their own studio for training clients and one of them who was actualy in my wedding party , he went on to open a gym and they all did very well , i mean new beamers, jaguars, escalades, back them around here they were cleaning up financialy big big time, but not sure how any of them are doing now as i moved a few towns over and havent kept in touch much,

but i was just curious as to how your set up was as a trainer

I work for the gym itself, but we make our own hours. They do all the pricing, we get a percentage for every client we train and a bigger percentage if we personally sign them up for training. I will on occasion take a client to another gym and train them and just pocket the cash and I'll pay for the clients membership, but I don't have to pay that gym anything since I know the owner. All he asks is that they buy a membership and he doesn't care if I train them there or not. It's nice because most of the time I may come in and there will be 10-15 new people signed up for training sessions and all I gotta do is call them and setup the appointments and I get a percentage. But it's a nice bump up on commission if I sign them up myself so I try to get current clients to sign up for more sessions. But the gym doesn't care when I'm there, when I'm training or anything, they just let us do our own thing as long as we show up when we have clients. I just give them a time block for certain days and they'll fill them up if I haven't done so already. I can train there for free anytime I want to and don't have to worry about ever paying anything. I know I could make a lot more money on my own, but there's a lot more money I'd have to throw in on my own to get there. I'd have to buy insurance and have an attorney in case anything would ever come up and a client gets injured under my care so that they can't sue me for everything and things like that so I don't mind making a little less to keep from getting into any legal issues

Lol, I was always picked last in gym class, but I'm getting even by becoming one of the big guys.

Very, very true.

I appreciate all your opinions. I too was doing personal training before I landed this job at the US olympic Training center. I didnt agree with some of thier policies but at this specific place they (the trainers) said they get more clients by being average and the big guys who are trainers mostly get the bigger people who think they have the muscle under all the fat to look like that..lol
I was curious if you guys thought it was fair or basically up to the company they work for?
I know at my job its a mandatory thing so long term AAS that show up are out of the question. My last cycle was 2 years ago and was tren and test prop. Hey c'mon Im working with olympic athletes and Im twice their age.
I just wanted to see wwhat everyone thought on this since I actually found a gym that does test thier trainers. I did find they have a high turnover rate since most people that go there basically know what they are doing. I was there for two hours and didnt see one fat personor overweight person at all.(maybe it was time of day)

sounds like a waste of money for the owner unless he is worried about some kind of liability issue with having ppl work for him possibly gassin. honestly (hypothetical) if your trainer got you seriously hurt and you found out he was on gas and that somehow slipped in court (lawsuit of some kind) its not gonna hurt your case any.
