TNE filtration

Hey bros

I just made a batch of TNE with the following recipe

ba - 2
bb - 20
Guaiacol - 10
EO - 100

I filtered it through a millipore .22um PVDF membrane, the same filters I've always used. I've never done TNE before and have never used guaiacol or done a brew with 100%EO as the carrier, most I've done is 50/50 with avocado oil or GSO.

The solution went in the bottle top clear and golden as usual, when it came out in the media bottle it was cloudy and had taken on a blue/green tint. I'm having trouble uploading the comparison photo; it says its uploading then pops up 'database error'.

What do you guys think? Ever had this happen? What is a remedy or is this an issue beyond coloration?

The best I can figure having 100%EO and/or guaiacol dissolved some of the plastic of the filter housing which is blue.

Also you guys that have brewed TNE before, what did you use to filter it?

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks in advance

could you please send the exact material your filter outer part is made from?

Normally it should be made from PTFE or Polypropylene which is resistance against EO and all other harsh solvents.

If it is made from some simple plastic material it is very likely that it was affected by Guaiacol or EO

Normally EO should not do it, except it is in mixture with BB- this couple makes things really complicated...

I remember EO and maybe something else are the paint off my old lap top. I don't plan on using it it if I don't have to. Forgot what I used to make with it.

I've emailed my filter supplier asking what the filter body is made of, I could not find this answer on millipore's website. I used a millipore stericup filter with a PVDF membrane. If anyone knows what this filter body is made of or knows of a filter that will handle this mix I would definitely appreciate it.

I don't think it is the EO that is dissolving the plastic as I have done brews before using EO up to 50% and never had an issue. This leads me to believe that the guaiacol is the culprit although using 100% EO as the carrier could have made a significant enough difference and dissolved the plastic. Thoughts? Anybody run into or heard of this happening before?

I have heard the reference that EO did eat the filter....... I personally don't know.

you could try putting a filter in a cup and put enough EO in to fully cover bottom of the filter and do periodic checks and watch the time if it happens u will know how much over what amount time!?

Not sure if you're referring to EO dissolving the membrane or the filter body. It did not dissolve the membrane for me, just the filter body. I have heard of EO dissolving certain membranes though.

you are worried about the filter let it sit in syringe for a day and see what happens, this is what your putting in your body.

You don't need EO
you mixing to much together.
Imoa the guaiacol will hold with that mix of solvents
I would not inject all that together.
