<!-- react-text: 61 -->Lion's mane extract (LME) is a blend of a few different molecules that come from the bearded tooth mushroom. LME is touted as a nootropic and despite the limited studies, LME has already shown the following benefits: improved memory and cognition, nerve regeneration via increased levels of Nerve Growth Factor, decrease levels of beta-amyloid which causes mental decline, as well as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. In one of the few human studies, participants with mild mental decline were given 250mg of LME 3x a day for 16 weeks. The data showed increased levels of cognition, improved memory and higher scores on all cognitive tests. The increased levels of NGF can possibly reverse symptoms of mental ailments such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's by generation new nerve cells. LME can also reduce levels of beta-amyloid, a plaque that interferes with neural function and transmission of information. I have not tried this one yet, but I'm in the process of sourcing some now.

That is pretty cool. I have a lions mane mushroom that grows on my property. I usually get two cut a year from it. They are soo good to eat. One of my favorite. I am curious how they make the extract. I wonder if heat degrades the health benefits of the fungi?
