[h=4]Apr 24 2018[/h][h=1]Hatch, Whitehouse Introduce Legislation to Empower DEA’s Regulation of SARMs[/h]
Washington, DC— US Senators Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) introduced the SARMs Control Act of 2018. Selective androgen receptor modulators, or SARMs, are synthetic drugs designed to mimic the effects of testosterone. This bipartisan bill builds on the success of the Designer Anabolic Steroids Control Act of 2014 by extending the Drug Enforcement Administration’s authority to regulate anabolic steroids to include SARMs.
SARMs are associated with serious safety concerns, including the potential to increase the risk of heart attack or stroke and life-threatening reactions like liver damage. They are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for human use, they are illegally marketed and sold as dietary supplements, and they are banned in all professional and college sports.
“SARMs are synthetic drugs that have negative effects similar to those of anabolic steroids,” Hatch said. “Even though SARMS are not approved by the FDA for human use and pose the same safety risks as anabolic steroids, they have proliferated under a regime in which they are not subject to the same controls. The SARMs Control Act closes this loophole to ensure that the DEA has the authority it needs to prevent abuse and diversion of these dangerous substances.”
“American consumers deserve to know if they’re buying seriously dangerous drugs slipped into everyday dietary supplements,” said Whitehouse. “This bipartisan legislation will build on successful anti-designer steroids legislation we’ve already passed to help protect American consumers.”
Statements of Support:
The legislation has received letters of support from the US Anti-Doping Agency and Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, as well as leaders of the dietary supplement industry.
Michael McGuffin, President, Herbal Products Association; Scott Melville, President & CEO, Consumer Healthcare Products Association; Steve Mister, President & CEO, Council for Responsible Nutrition; Loren Israelsen, President, United Natural Products Alliance; Travis Tygart, President & CEO, US Anti-Doping Agency:“Each of our organizations has consistently supported efforts to enact and enforce laws to protect consumers, eliminate bad actors marketing illegal substances masquerading as legal products, and prosecute criminals who manufacture and sell them. Your bill will help move toward this goal. The SARMs Control Act is a bold step, adding teeth to prevention and enforcement efforts in the battle against illegal substances being marketed as legitimate products. The dietary supplement industry and USADA stands ready to work with you and all of Congress to deliver a strong bill to the President.”
Dominick L. Strokes, Vice President for Legislative Affairs, Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association:“FLEOA endorses this legislation giving additional authority to the Drug Enforcement Administration to enforce the illegal sales of SARMs. It is our belief this legislation will help save the lives of individuals who are unaware of the serious side effects of these supplements. We look forward to standing with you on this important bipartisan legislation.”
Background:
The FDA recently issued warning letters to three companies for distributing products that contain SARMs, noting that the products are unapproved drugs that have not been reviewed by the FDA for safety and effectiveness. The United States Anti-Doping Agency and the Department of Defense Operation Supplement Safety program warn about the risks of SARMs. Despite these enforcement actions and education efforts, SARMs are increasingly being purchased through the Internet by athletes, recreational bodybuilders, and members of the armed forces.
The SARMs Control Act of 2018 builds on the success of the Designer Anabolic Steroids Control Act of 2014 (Pub. L. No. 113-260) by extending the Drug Enforcement Administration’s authority to regulate anabolic steroids to include SARMs. Specifically, the SARMs Control Act of 2018 would:

  • Amend the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) to add SARMs to the list of Schedule III controlled substances, ensuring that SARMs are regulated in the same manner as anabolic steroids;

  • Add a definition of the term “SARM,” including a list of specified substances and a process for the Attorney General to add substances to the definition of SARM;

  • Prohibit importing, exporting, manufacturing, distributing, dispensing, or possessing with intent to manufacture, distribute, or dispense any SARM, or any product containing a SARM, unless it is properly labeled;

  • Add certain offenses related to SARMs to the definition of “felony drug offense” and the civil penalty provisions of the CSA; and

  • Require that the FDA provide to the DEA information related to dietary supplements that the FDA determines may contain a SARM, as it already does for supplements that may contain anabolic steroids.

Anyone following this? And I can see regulating products that are sold as legal products not listing the sarm compound inside them, as thats pretty fucked up, especially for athletes. But schedule 3, alongside steroids. Steroids shouldn’t even be in the same class with heroin and cocain, now SARMs to.

I wonder if smoking a joint promoted protein synthesis if they would have made it legal in some states. I understand its not federally , but still how is marijuana more acceptable than someone trying build upon his or her body? The vast majority of people you see using steroids , are your every day hard working, family men and women, careers and such, who understand structure, and how to get from A-B through Z with hard work. And the vast majority of marijuana smokers are POT HEADS, which to me means theyre just doing it to get HIGH, not for medical reasons.

Well, I pulled Sarm Sciences products from our store! We were fine for the 15 years without them, and if theyre going to be made into scheduled drugs, I want no part in that bullshit!

Hatch is a dick and has his hand in so many suppliment companies out of Utah ( I think he has part ownership in a couple). I think Sarms are hurting their gutamine and creatine sales ( and snake oil supplements like homeopathics)..............Fuck him!!!

It seems like they’re wasting time and energy that would be better spent on dealing with the heroin/fentanyl crisis that is becoming the #1 killer in the country.

SARMs are a safe bipartisan target with no big name defenders so the Congress can show they’re doing something to protect the American people. Get real. Deal with opiates (marketed by big pharmaceutical companies who make huge contributions to all the Senators and Representatives) which are killing more people every year!

Got in car wreck years ago.
Drs had me on oxcontin, loratab, soma and Xanax.
Had to go once a month.
That was 14 years ago I think.
Had to get on Buprenorphine to get off the methadone they put me on after oxy shit wasnt enough.
Was hooked legally had to pay 350 month for scripts and then meds.
This was best alternative to surgery they told me.

Today and since that 14 year ago misery I take nothing any Dr gives me until I educate myself what it is!!!

Since then I know as much as meds and medical conditions then they do!!

I now use Dr's for my best health and don't listen they order test I learn look over and decide. Each I see knows I know and it's up to me. I gotta trust them if surgery is necessary but that us about it!!!

My kids their Dr's know same.
STOP GIVING MY KIDS PREDNISONE FOR RUNNY NOSE THEN THE CREAM FOR THE SKIN ISSUES THAT FOLLOW AND LOOP THEM BACK THERE FOR MORE STUFF.

most Dr's or a joke and these clinics with the physician assistant? Is that the term.
They are controlled by pushing drugs from sales reps like tamaflu. They test for flu with inaccurate test that show false pos most of time and give tamaflu. Stuff is on way out doesn't even work flu immune to it action and it has more sides and no real evidence that it helps!

I will shut up but it's a joke completely.

We need to come out woodwork and all send letters. Lol! Just be honest is all

Well where’s the petition to sign? Where are we meeting ? Whitehouse? Capital hill lol

im there ! Problem is most of us are family men and women, business owners, careers and we’re not WAKE and Bakes who can just stumble on down to a rally at a moments notice

so who’s putting this together ? Cause you don’t have long!

I mean even those who take KRATOM had advocated against new laws and they won a small battle!

But bodybuilders, where is everyone?

I agree, we are respectable members of society and we live to wanna be better at much more than just working out and using hormones.
It's baffling, and I never once tried to look into this.
It something to learn more about because I don't know what to do....
But I have to have hope, because I don't plan on stopping the extra..
I like to say I take care of myself and I am not irresponsibly just doing a bunch if harm that will make me die young or go into "Rage"
All my health signs good and Dr's are amazed at my fitness and health at my age.
Only low mid 40s but have y'all seen the rest of world. The health crisis from he more than average.
I gotta educate my self more!! And u just inspired me!!!

Fucking bastards. Probably big pharma pushing this ban.

I still never used S4 I'm gonna leave it at that, politics make me angry.

Well, im not sure i can say hatch is a dick lmao, i mean the supplement industry was saved, and im a republican through and through red white and blue, and the problem as i see it is people selling SARM nine times out of 10 have no idea whats really in the powder, same goes for steroid powders.

Anyhow, i say we should need to remove two antiquated laws before allowing 1 new law to be passed!

Guys I was taught years ago to always follow the money. That is what this is all about. It's all business and has nothing to do with anything else. The right people are not making any money off SARMS. Bottom Line.

More government bullshit. It's all about who is paying who. They are uneducated, ignorant retards who have no clue about anything substantial. They are all a bunch of ass hats and I hope DC gets wiped off the map someday soon.
