How Do Steroids Build Muscle?

How do steroids work to increase muscle growth? Anabolic steroids help to stimulate anabolic effects in the body by plugging into the protein receptors that are on or in cells that help to create new proteins within the cells. This results in an increase in RNA activity. RNA is the acronym for ribonucleic acid. RNA is a vital molecule found in your cells, and it is necessary for life. Pieces of RNA are used to construct proteins inside of your body so that new cell growth may take place. There are two main functions of RNA. It assists DNA by serving as a messenger to relay the proper genetic information to countless numbers of ribosome in your body. The other main function of RNA is to select the correct amino acid needed by each ribosome to build new proteins for your body. While RNA is quite small in stature, your body could not perform as needed without its proper assistance.

When new proteins are constructed, users begin to see increases in muscle strength and size. While this already happens normally within the body, steroids help to increase or stimulate this natural process by binding to the protein cells’ receptor sites.

It’s important to realize that steroids also help to increase nitrogen retention. The fundamental rule when aiming to increase nitrogen balance is to eat sufficient complete proteins. Indeed, a caloric surplus of protein should be maintained at all times, to keep nitrogen balance positive. It is advisable to eat about six meals (each spaced two-three hours apart), each containing around 30-40-grams of protein, per-day. However don’t forget your carbohydrates as the body relies on carbohydrates for energy, the last thing you want is for your body to use an alternate source. If you don't provide your body with enough energy from carbohydrates, then it'll be forced to break down the valuable proteins in your body and convert them to a usable source of energy. This process is known as ketosis, and unfortunately your body can't distinguish the difference between the protein you eat and the protein in your muscle tissue. To save your lean body mass and continue on a muscle growing path, it is vital to maintain your carbohydrate stores.

It is imperative that when one decides to do anabolic steroids that they make sure that their diet is on target. This goes back to the old saying that muscles are made in the kitchen.
